many times. I go to "run," type "cmd" & enter the command: "net stop spooler." When I execute the spooler command I get the above error message. I did a search on google & got
System Error 5 Has Occurred Access Is Denied
a lot of hits but none of them were useful. What is going on & how do I solve this "system 5 error" problem? Thanks for any help. ron40, Jun 18, 2014 #1 Sponsor davehc Trusted Advisor Joined: Oct 4, 2006 Messages: 1,937 Try restarting the spooler at the same time. The combination command would be net stop spooler && net start spooler I try to avoid the command print spooler keeps stopping line as much as possible, on the understanding that a user OS should not need in depth commands. When I have a document problem such as yours, I normally open the "Devices and Printers", in the Control Panel, click in and "see what's printing" and clear it from there. Sometimes needs a restart. davehc, Jun 19, 2014 #2 Macboatmaster Trusted Advisor Joined: Jan 14, 2010 Messages: 16,448 You must run that cmd on an elevated cmd prompt instead of simply opening the cmd prompt on windows 8.1 however you access it - right click and click run as admin or if you access it from search charms, click run as admin the cmd window will then be titled Administrator command prompt and not merely command prompt please see screenshot as explained here You can also clear print jobs by using an elevated Command Prompt. You will get the Access Denied error if you attempt to do this with a normal Command Prompt. That said, perhaps I am on the wrong tack as you say I have windows 8, 32 bit & I'm trying to clear my print spooler, which I've done many timesClick to expand... The installation was smooth and trouble-free. However, Windows cannot print. It seems that some of the default permissions are not working. I eventually found an error in the PrintService event log: "The document Print Document, owned by Administrator, https://forums.techguy.org/threads/solved-system-error-5-has-occurred-access-denied.1128098/ failed to print on printer HP 4250. I removed and re-installed one of the printers and rebooted, without any success. I'm not enjoying my Server 2012 experience very much yet... I gave the "Everyone" group permission to read & execute, list folder contents, read, and write. It solved my issue. Now the other question is why would it not be authenticating the correct group in the first place? When I'm using a domain adminaccount and I see Administrators (DOMAINHERE\Administrators) with full control, logic would tell me that the I should've already had access to it. Proposed as answer by

According to her, the computer shut down normally the previous day. She reported that it repaired some sectors on the disk. Since then, the print spooler service will not start, so she can't print anything. I'm trying to figure this out over the phone, so I don't have all the details at hand, but here's what I do know. Trying to start the print spooler service from the services control panel or the command line results in Error Msg #5, Access Denied. The executable is located in the correct place (system32\spoolsv.exe). The RPC service starts up just fine on startup. Her account has full admin privledges Any ideas why she gets the Access Denied message? Is there a way to reinstall the service easily without writing a script in C# or something, and would it be a good idea to try that? nebrtoad, #1 2004/12

One thing, you said to open the spool folder> printer folder and delete contents of the printer folder then close that all out. I couldn't get that folder to open so I could delete any of it's contents. Can you tell me what else I could do or did I do something wrong on these steps. Your help would be much appreci
