So when you have already done a clean reinstall of the driver, I would take a look at the network hardware. If only on client has the problem try changing the NIC or wires.. trying to pull back some (a lot of)data from a SQL Server 2005 instance using Excel 2003 protocol error in tds stream linked server and Microsoft Query. I think that the volume of data has grown to a size were something is failing as I now get the following error: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/9a68b2f5-a033-44a5-ab1b-ec76967ebfd4/protocol-error-in-tds-stream?forum=sqldataaccess Server driver]Protocol error in TDS stream Most of the articles i've read on line describe this as being a problem where the data packets sent via TCP/IP are split and start off as being syncronous but due to the delay become asyncronous. The switch and subsequent receipt of duplicate data throws this error. However I've not found https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/280be6c5-eb04-4658-aa75-bd86a558c96c/excel-query-error?forum=excel any that describe this error comming from Microsoft Excel and so I don't know how to resolve it. I've noted that if I upgrade to Office 2007 and use the 'From SQL Server' option instead of 'Micorosft Query' that the results are returned successfully. Any suggestions on how I can resolve this error in Excel 2003? There is a fix for this issue located here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/945892and that KB Article references http://support.microsoft.com/kb/946608/LN/- that article contains a fix at the top of the page. The problem is with the operating system and SQL Server, Please try applying that fix to your SQL Server machine and let me know if the problem is resolved. Will Buffington Microsoft Excel Support

We upgraded to SQL2012 a couple of weeks ago and it has run perfectly since.....up until 3 days ago. I just upgraded the Server2008 (where the processes run and get the errors) to SP2. It ran the processes fine the first time and errored out on the second time and nearly every time after. 0 LVL 1 Overall: Level 1 Windo
