One of the reasons for the error is certificates not configured properly. If you are using a custom application, you can turn off SSL for POP using the following command. Set-POPSettings -LoginText PlainTextLogin After executing this command, please restart POP3 service. 0 Message Active 6 days ago Author Comment by:antonioking2013-09-04 Hi, turned out simply restarting the pop3 service resolved my issue. 0 Write Comment First Name Please enter a first name Last Name Please enter a last name Email We will never share this

I've set the LoginType to PlainTextLogin but when I telnet to ther server from an external IP, I get an error after entering Login: -ERR Protocol error. 19 I cannot seem to pop3 protocol error fund much documentation on what this error means. To be able to send mail using the Exchange server of the company is causing me headaches. They use a Exchange 2010 server with SSL on port 995.This is the copy of the log of the communication that I get when I want to send a mail through their smpt:22:02:29.171: --- 8 Oct 2014, 22:02:29.171 ---22:02:29.187: Connect to 'mail.essca.fr', timeout 30 seconds.22:02:30.343: SSL/TLS session established22:02:30.343: AES128-SHA, SSLv3, Kx=RSA, Au=RSA, Enc=AES(128), Mac=SHA122:02:30.343: Peer's certificate name is '/C=FR/ST=PAYS-DE-LA-LOIRE/L=ANGERS/O=ESSCA/OU=ESSCA/CN=msx2010.essca.asso.fr'.22:02:30.531: >> +OK The Microsoft Exchange POP3 service is ready.22:02:30.531: << EHLO msx2010.essca.asso.fr22:02:30.578: >> -ERR Protocol error. 1922:02:30.578: << HELO msx2010.essca.asso.fr22:02:30.609: >> -ERR Protocol error. 19I did not find any documentation on the Internet about this type of error. I thought that maybe it was the domain HELO which caused this error, so I tried several other domains, from the one of my ISP to the one of the company. Nothing doing. What is wrong? What should I modify?Any thought helpful! The port you are using is POP3 also.
