Telnet Pop3 Protocol Error 19
Server 2013 - Outlook, OWA, POP, and IMAP Clients Question 0 Sign in to vote
Err Command Is Not Valid In This State
Hello. I am trying to setup a POP3 account to a client that has Outlook 2010 and connects to Exchange 2013 CU2. I started POP3 services to Exchange server. The client already has an Exchange account. I set up a second POP3 account. Outlook test is ok. But when the user tries to send an email using the pop3 account, the email message returns with "invalid message content". How can I solve this? Regards Tuesday, November 19, 2013 8:57 AM Reply | Quote Answers 0 Sign in to vote Hi, If you received an NDR 5.5.6 with description of “Invalid message content”, then the message indicates a possible protocol error. I’d suggest you check inPOP3 Log for possible failures. If you didn't enable the POP3 log before, please enable it and reproduce the issue. You can refer to: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa997690(v=exchg.150).aspx However, before that, I’d like you to confirm that the POP3 service has been set properly in your Exchange organization. By default, POP3 and IMAP4 are disabled in MicrosoftExchange Server 2013. To support POP3 clients that still rely on these protocols, you need to start two POP3 services: the Microsoft Exchange POP3 service and the Microsoft Exchange POP3 Backend service. To start the POP3 services: 1.On the computer running the Client Access server role, click Start>Programs> Administrative Tools>

Understanding the Need for Secure POP3 The Post Office Protocol (POP) can be insecure as it allows the passing of user credentials in plain text. To understand how serious this is, imagine that your end users are in a public wi-fi network and connecting to your corporate Exchange servers over POP3. They’ll be authenticating with their Active Directory username and password. If POP access is not secured those credentials will be sent “in the clear” and could be sniffed by an attacker who is also on the same wi-fi network. To see an example of this in action, here is a POP3 session login sniffed on an insecure network. Insecure POP3 login traffic The user’s cleverly chosen password of “Seagull1″ is visible to anyone who is able to sniff the network traffic. As you can see in the exa

I thought that maybe it was the domain HELO which caused this error, so I tried several other domains, from the one of my ISP to the one of the company. Nothing doing. What is wrong? What should I modify?Any thought helpful! The port you are using is POP3 also.
