It is being used by Veeam Backup.", memory "False", quiesce "True"A general system error occurred: Protocol error from VMX.Looking at the snapshot manager in vCenter i dont see any snapshots there.Really hoping someone will be able to assist here as im quite baffled by this. I have weekly snapshots and clones that are scheduled through vCenter. Suddenly one of the clone tasks stopped working and threw this error:A General System error occurred: Protocol error from VMX.Hmmm…that's odd. It's run fine up to now right? Luckily the fix couldn't be too much simpler than this.SOLUTION: Restart the VMware Tools service in https://forums.veeam.com/veeam-backup-replication-f2/vm-backup-job-failing-t3994.html the guest machine and restart the tasket voila!Share this:Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Google+ (Opens in new window)Related Tags: error, esx, tip, vmware, vsphere DiscoPossePeople, Process, and Technology. I have recently upgraded to Veeam Backup and Replication v8 from v7. As soon as I upgraded, I could not backup anymore (and i've tried uninstalling, and re-installing, creating a new job.. etc..) Whenever I try to do the upgrade, i get this error: 12/23/2014 12:48:44 PM :: Error: Failed to open VDDK disk [[ReadyNAS 4200] JR/JR.vmdk] ( is read-only mode - [true] ) Failed to open VMDK. Failed to upload disk. Agent failed to process method {DataTransfer.SyncDisk}. Anyone have any suggestions? I've tried changing virtual machine hardware, and i've also tried different VMs, they all seem to fail with this error. I found that my Veeam Proxy server wasn't releasing a few disks due to failed snapshot removals. Once I manually removed those disks from the proxy server my backups started working again. 0 Tabasco OP Mike_Choices Dec 23, 2014 at 9:35 UTC Do you have parallel processing enabled? If not, you might be hitting a bug that I hit. http://www.veeam.com/kb1960 0 Anaheim OP Joshua R Dec 23, 2014 at 9:50 UTC Jeff728 - How did you manually remove those snapshots?
