I have searched it for several hours and have not found the fix (but see caution below). Am using a new Palm Treo 755p. Got my old data off my Windows XP computer onto my 755p without incident, then downloaded the Windows Vista-compatible Palm Desktop 6.2 beta software from the Palm site. Loaded that on my new Windows Vita machine with no problem. But when I http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Palm-and-WebOS/Protocol-Error-handheld-file-could-not-be-opened-4004/td-p/2043698/page/3 attemped to sync, I got this: Failed to backup 1 file -PmTraceDatabase --Protocol Error: Handheld file could not be opened (4004) ---SYNCERR_FILE_NOT_OPEN Following the threads I found here and elesewhere yielded many complaints about Palm, but no solutions I could use. Please help if you can! Here's the caution:Two people on the Palm board suggested using utilities: Super Utility and fileZ were linked from there, and clicking on each took me http://forum.brighthand.com/threads/pmtracedatabase-protocol-error-4004.251272/ to a porn site! mbj mbricker, Dec 9, 2007 #1 Streaky I can't remember Messages: 11,765 Likes Received: 11 Trophy Points: 233 Welcome to Brighthand, mbricker. First of all, if the links that you speak of are at Palm Help Forums, please report each of them to the Moderators there so that the links can be modified or removed. That's disgusting. Rest assured, that will never happen here. Next, was this the page that you viewed at Palm Support? Is your Treo an upgrade for you or are you a new Palm user? If the data on your Treo was up to date you could have ins
