Idaho Joins the State Quarter Program The U.S. Mint released the 2007 Idaho Statehood Quarter on June 4, 2007. It is the 43rd coin released as part of the Mint's Statehood Quarter series. Versions of the Idaho State Quarter The Idaho State Quarter is released in 5 different forms. 1) Regular business strike meant for circulation bearing the P mark of the US Mint at at Philadelphia 2) Regular business strike meant for circulation bearing the D mark of the US Mint at Denver 2) A proof version bearing the S mint mark of the US Mint at San Francisco 3) A silver proof version, made of silver, bearing the mark of the US Mint at San Francisco. 4) Special release collectible satin finish version bearing the P mark of the US Mint at Philadelphia 5) Special release collectible satin finish version bearing the D mark of the US Mint at Denver Idaho State Quarter Design As the 43rd State admitted to the Union, Idaho is nicknamed the "Gem State." It was admitted to the U.S. on July 3, 1890. The obverse of the Idaho state quarter bears the familiar image of George Washington. The reverse of the ID state quarter bears an image of the Peregrine Falcon above a picture of the state of Idaho. The reverse also bears the Latin phrase and state motto "Esto Perpetua," which means "May it be Forever." The Peregrine Falcon is one of the fastest birds in the world. Although at one time it was endangered, it can now be found throughout Idaho due to the work of conservationists. Citizens of Idaho sent narratives to the Mint about their state, which engravers then rendered into the current design. The p
