This may be necessary because Windows 10, 8, 7, Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 use User Access Control to limit changes on the computer. Solution 2: Run the QuickBooks Desktop installation or QuickBooks Desktop update with administrator rights Use the following steps to install QuickBooks Desktop or QuickBooks Desktop updates with administrator rights. Install QuickBooks Desktop from a CD Click the Windows Start button, choose Computer. Note: For Windows 10 choose This PC Right-click the CD drive where the QuickBooks Desktop CD is inserted and choose Open. Right-click the Setup.exe file and choose Run as Administrator. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation. Install QuickBooks Desktop from a download Right-click QuickBooks Desktop installer icon. Choose Run as Administrator. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation. Install a QuickBooks Desktop update Locate the QuickBooks Desktop update file (for example, en_qbwebpatch.exe or qbwebpatch.exe). Right-click on the QuickBooks Desktop update file. Note: If you are running an automatic update, right-click the QuickBooks Desktop program icon. Choose Run as Administrator. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation. If the 1625 error is still present, proceed to Solution 3. Solution 3: Enable installation of digitally signed software updates On your keyboard, press Windows logo + R to open the Run window. In the Run window, enter gpedit.msc, and then click OK. Since I am the administration and only computer. Still got same error. Re-booted computer and attempted to install QuickBooks. Again, same error message. How can I bypass windows thinking I don't have administrative rights?
