If that doesn't work I would try a windows repair with you 2003 media. I removed it, and then the server came up with a device allready exists error, and would reboot. I had to leave the error on the screen and restore the C:\WINDOWS\ime\lsass.exe file. The server then rebooted fine, but has slowed down now. 0 LVL 7 Overall: Level 7 Windows Server 2003 1 MS Legacy OS 1 Message Expert Comment by:ZShaver2012-01-06 i'm not su

Join Now Hi https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/283609-sbs2003-server-not-booting-lsass-exe-error all, Our Exeter branch SBS2003 box won't boot today. Tomorrow I'm going https://kilsally.wordpress.com/2010/05/27/how-to-fix-system-error-lsass-exe-constantly-rebooting-windows-xp/ down to take a look. They're running some kind of HP G5 server down there. Each time it boots an error appears: 'lsass.exe system error Security accounts manager initialization failed because of the following error directory service cannot start. error status 0xc00002e1. Please click ok to shutdown the system and security accounts reboot into direcotry service restore mode.' I've asked the admin down there to press F8 so I can follow the instructions in this doc: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/258062. But he just reaches a raid config screen each time. Tried a ps2 and usb keyboard but we cannot reach the options screen where we can enter directory service restore mode. They have a duplicate server offsite and security accounts manager the admin is currently restoring the server to Friday nights backup. This may/ or may not work. But I'm interested to know what the issue on the main server. Do you have any advice on what I can try to troubleshoot when I' down there tomorrow? Thanks, Mark

On servers, you must wait until after all hardware has been initialized. 0 Poblano OP Lunati Dec 17, 2012 at 4:40 UTC Sounds like you have duplicate cross-reference objects, have you tried this hot fix? http://support.microsoft.com/kb/830574 0 Poblano OP MB1980 Dec 17, 2012 at 4:53 UTC Lunati: Can't get even reach the logon screen at present to apply that hotfix 0 Poblano OP MB1980 Dec 17, 2012 at 8:12 UTC Hopefully its a corrupt ad issue. We have a decent backup in place down at the site so I should be able to run through the kb link in my initsafe mode were inaccessible reinstalling windows `over the top` of itself was not an option either as the windows partition was not being recognised which meant only a clean windows install as a last resort. However I eventually tried the following couple of fixes with the final one doing the trick for me. Fix 1:- - Boot with your Windows system CD - Go into the repair console - Now change directory to the C:\windows\system32\config (cd blah blah) - type: rename security security.bak - enter - type: copy c:\windows\repair\security . - enter - type: exit - enter - or reset the computer manually (Alternate description for same fix) 1. Boot into the recovery console using your Windows XP CD. 2. Type: CHDIR sytem32 and press Enter. 3. Type: CHDIR config and press Enter. 4. Type: Rename Security Security.bak and press Enter. 5. Type: Copy C:\Windows\repair\security and press Enter. 6. Type: Exit and press Enter (this will restart your computer). If all goes well, your PC should work. If not try this: Quote from above: "I had this problem and managed to fix it without a reinstall. Create the disc at www.ubcd4win.com on a good pc and boot off of it on the bad one. Once in go to Start, Programs, Registry Tools, Registry Restore Wizard. Tell it where Windows is installed (C:\Windows usually). Then pick the date that you want to roll back to. I chose the one closest to todays date and it recovered it fine. Reboot and bingo! It's back. (Well it was for me…!)" Fix 2:- How to recover from a corrupted registry that prevents Windows XP from starting http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307545 When you try to start or restart your Windows XP-based computer, you may receive one of the following error messages: Windows XP could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM Windows XP could not start because the following file is missing or co
