The Security Certificate Has Expired Or Is Not Yet Valid Exchange 2007
2007 clients. After one year of installation we get the security warning " the security certificate has expired or is not yet valid" twice when we launch outlook 2007. I have checked the exchange certificates ( Get-ExchangeCertificate | fl in exchange management ) and in IIS the security certificate has expired or is not yet valid exchange 2010 certificates( server certificates ), but the expired certificate shown by outlook is not there. I also notice that I do not get this security warning when the default web site is stopped or when the www service is stopped. How can I find where is this purticular certificateused on the server. Regards Jai Monday, August 30, 2010 1:28 PM Reply | Quote Answers 2 Sign in to vote Hi, To resolve this issue, you need to create a new certificate for exchange server. If you are using a exchange self signed certificate, please follow these steps to create a new certificate: Step 1: Delete the expired certificate: a. Runget-exchangecertificate |fl , please note the Thumbprint number of the expired certificate, such as 5113ae0233a72fccb75b1d0198628675333d010e. b. I started getting this error a couple days ago and cannot get rid of it. When researching the error all I can find is to look in Exchange for the expired certificate and delete it and create a new one. The problem is when I look at Exchange all of the certificates are valid. When I go to OWA I don't get any errors. I contacted the company that hosts our website to have them look into it. I will post an update when I hear back from them. 1 Anaheim OP Jason Low (Seasons) Oct 30, 2014 at 7:21 UTC Jason Low (Seasons) wrote: Ok, so now I'm thinking this may be an external problem with an SSL that has expired. Tried updating the certificates according to info on the internet, then tried rolling Internet Explorer back to the previous version. Still nothing. I got him to check out his settings and compare them to mine. I opened IE, then clicked on Tools, Internet Options, then the Security tab and clicked on security certificate the Custom level button. Down towards the bottom is a “Reset custom settings” option, mine was set to Medium-high (default) his was on High but he was unable to change it. We went step by step through all the settings in the list above trying to change it manually, using the settings on mine as a guide. But when he clicked on OK to save the settings the certificate error message still kept popping up. So online again, finally coming across this simple the security certificate solution. CHECK THE DATE ON YOUR COMPUTER. Browsers have security certificates built in that have a start date and an end date. If the date on your computer is off one way or the other, that can cause this error message. This was back in 2010, his date set to 2001. When he set it to 2010, problem solved. It’s such a simple thing but I’ve had a number of calls over the years dealing with the same issue. It can happen in any version of Windows and will often occur if/when the CMOS battery dies or is dying.
