Segmentation Fault Error In C Program
Customer Association Careers Locations Investor Relations Terms & Legal < Back to search Results English Avid Knowledge Base segmentation fault in thread main thread at address 0x0 During Launch of Media Composer Last Updated : August 7, 2009 Products Affected : Media_Composer What can cause this error? This can be caused by corrupt database files. If possible, try to isolate which drive or workspace has the corrupt file by unmounting the workspace or by adding a "x" to the Avid MediaFiles folder or OMFI MediaFiles folder's name (e.g. xAvid MediaFIles). This will cause Avid to not scan that folder. Once you have identified a the folder or folders with that cause the error, delete the msmMMOB.mdb and msmFMID.pmr files inside the folder and relaunch. If on a Unity workspace, make sure no one else is currently working with that workspace as the rescan will force them to stop until it is complete. These database files can also be found in the Media Composer/Supporting Files/Avid_MediaFiles folder Related Articles segmentation fault in thread main thread at address 0x0 Why do I get a message 'segmentation fault in thread main thead at address 0x0' on a Mac? Thanks!Return to posts indexReport Post •Re: Error message: "Segmentation fault" in thread "MainThread", at address 0x0by Michael http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/en_US/troubleshooting/en284411 McCune on Jan 25, 2014 at 9:08:08 pmLewis; With problems of this sort, that is, "Corruption ...," "Segmentation ...," "Consistency ...error found ...," I have found that housecleaning often--magically--cures the error. This suggests to me that the problem is in the database and not the media. (Though I have had errors and found that, https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/45/895506 indeed, there was an error in one--yes, one--frame. Find it, delete it and move on ): ) Of course we all know about deleting the two MXF folder files, *.pmr and *.mmob, and relaunching Avid. I usually ask the Windows file manager to find all the instances of these files, especially if one has several drives and lots of mxf folders. This will also find those on the C drive even though you probably don't use that drive for storage. I have also encountered errors, surprisingly often actually, when doing complex Avid FX work and then asking Avid to render the timeline. Simply closing and restarting Avid clears the "error." Sometimes I render a portion of the timeline, close Avid, restart, as a preventive routine. Again, these may be database integrity issues, not media issues. Best! Hopefully in the next few days I will have the opportunity to try some things out but it occurred to me that there might be a very simple answer. I have seen this error only once before outside the school and that is on my MacBook Pro which, apart from running Media Composer v5.0.3, is also running Final Cut Studio… (there, I said it)
