Required field indicates with red star by default. But you can customize tool tip for required field and apply some formatting if field is empty (for example red background if field value is empty). To do this, you need to uncheck "Cannnot be blank " settings for control and then add custom rule: Home ribbon tab, Rules-> Ad Rule->Is Blank->Show Validation Message or\and Formatting(bad). Two rules will be added to our field, in rule settings you can specify what formatting to apply and validation screen tip. share|improve this answer answered Dec 25 '11 at 14:39 Kai 3,79631532 thanks a lot , I defined a custom role, but again the error –ar.gorgin Dec 26 '11 at 4:56 When does this error appear? We understand that this is the validation for the fields, however all fields are filled in. We have debugged the error, and traced it to an 'objInvalidViewDataNode' which says '1112,T00:00:00,T00:00:00,,false,false,false,-1,false,false'. Normally if a field needs to https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/5428ea5b-11fc-4543-98e8-160fa993aaf6/infopath-cannot-submit-the-form-because-it-contains-errors-errors-are-marked-with-either-a-red?forum=sharepointcustomizationlegacy be filled in the object will say '30,,,,false,false,false,,false,false,V1_I1_S4_I1_S17_I1_T3' where V1_I1_S4_I1_S17_I1_T3 is the control causing the error. But we have confused with what the error is occurring. Normally, a get focus will jump to the field, but this doesn't even happen. Many thanks for any help. If you can't find it with the tools you've tried already, then it's best to start removing fields one at a time until you find the culprit. Make a copy, start removing fields that have data val

because it contains errors. Share :Twitter0Facebook0LinkedIn22Google+0One of our Clients received the following error while saving an Infopath form after Changing a people and group filed which had an Inactive Active http://www.learningsharepoint.com/2015/09/11/error-with-disabled-user-in-ad-infopath-cannot-submit-the-form-because-it-contains-errors/ Directory user in it. "Infopath cannot submit the form because it contains errors. Errors are marked with either a red asterisk (required fields) or a red, dashed border (invalid values)."Advertisement After a http://sharepointpratik.blogspot.com/2014/03/infopath-error-form-cannot-be-submitted.html bit of Investigation (looking at the form fields etc..), it came down to the actual User whose Id was disabled in the Active Directory. After looking at the form and the the form Infopath KBs available, it seemed like this particular condition where client was unable to save the form because of trying to remove an Inactive user and re-saving the form with an active user, is a undocumented bug with Infopath. There is simply no documentation or solution for it. The only possible solution that I could figure out was - to edit the list infopath cannot submit in datasheet view and remove the column entries where this Inactive user is listed. So under List tab -> select datasheet view and then scroll for your column where you have Inactive user. Remove the entry and then click on the other row to save the row. Make sure you see the little green dots scrolling while saving the row, towards the right bottom of the screen.
