It has just today displayed the word 'test' on the LCD panel and keeps going into some kind of cycle and am unable to do a wash http://www.justanswer.com/uk-appliance/4enwu-hotpoint-washing-machine-wf860-operating.html cycle. Hiya, There are few methods, depends on the age of the appliance.Press the Start/Cancel button until all the console LED's illuminate. Now press both Start/Cancel and On/Off buttons together until d OFF appears. The default screen returns and you can select a new programme. Simply press the Cancel button and the appliance returns to default. orPress On/Off and Start/Cancel together with top left option button until d OF appears. orSwitch off at mains, press and hold On/Off & Start/Cancel buttons, switch mains back on, keep holding down buttons until Doff appears in display.orIf you get the tESt message when pressing start, let it run through the test mode (about 3mins).When it says end, press on/off,start/cancel together until d off appears.Switch the appliance off and when you switch back on it should be ok.The noise I'm afraid is down to the machine wearing. It would really need a "hands on" engineer to listen to the noise to try and narrow it down.Bearings, motor and weights on the tub are all common causes of noise.Hope this helpsLet me

Our Hotpoint WF630, went down on 13/1/06 with exactly the same problem. The machine was 3 days outside its 12 months warranty. I was told to hold down the on/ off button untill all the lights come on and then depress the start / cancel button. However, this does not seem to work. Iam now awaiting further advice from a service engineer. I will keep you posted if there is a successful outcome. Someone has accidentally pressed some buttons and locked you into test mode. To get out of it you need to press start, the display should go daft. Press start again and the display should settle down. Now press the on/off button and the start button at the same time and hold them down for a few seconds until the display shows d-end or d-off. Your machine should now work. Unplug your appliance before working on it. tiredengineer, 15 Jan 2006 #3 Thanks x 4 saracen6 Joined: 15 Jan 2006 Messages: 2 Thanks Received: 2 Location: Yorkshire Country: thanks for the advice in regard to this problem i have now got it working after trying your advice THANK YOU saracen6, 16 Jan 2006 #4 Thanks x 1 tiredengineer Joined: 15 Nov 2005 Messages: 199 Thanks Received: 6 Country: Your very welcome.
