When launched on Windows 7 a LaunchAnywhere Error dialog pops up with the message "Windows error 2 occured while loading the Java VM" (BTW 'occurred' is spelled wrong.) The Environment Variable JAVA_HOME is set to C:\Program files\Java\jre7 If I use install.exe LAX_VM "C:\Program files\Java\jre7", it works a bit better in that instead of getting the error immediately, it waits until https://community.flexerasoftware.com/showthread.php?214384-Windows-error-2-when-trying-to-start-installer it reaches 100%. I tried adding %JAVA_HOME% to Project/JVM Settings/Windows tab/Search Path tab, but it did not help. What else can I try? Last edited by asorenson; 02-04-2014 at 11:47 AM. Instead of altering the environment, can this be handled in the installer setup? install Technote (FAQ) Question You are installing a Modeler component that uses InstallAnywhere (Modeler adapters for C&DS, Modeler SNA, Modeler Server administration tool) and are presented with the following error during the installation: LaunchAnywhere Error: Could not find a valid Java virtual machine to load You may need to reinstall a supported Java virtual machine Cause The installer cannot find a supported JVM in which to run Answer The installers for these components can be run with JRE 1.5 or later. The path to Java must be on the system PATH for the installer to be able to find and use it. -On Windows systems append the path to JRE bin subdirectory to the PATH environment variable in Windows and rerun the installer. -On UNIX and Linux systems include the path to the JRE bin directory on the PATH in the shell from which you are running the installer and export the PATH environment variable before rerunning the installer from the same shell. Even if you can invoke Java from a command line successfully it doesn't guarantee the path to the JRE bin directory is on the PATH. The Java install on Windows adds the Java binary to C:\windows\system32 which generally is on the system path and will allow java to be invoked from a command prompt. It will not allow the InstallAnywhere-based installers to run.
