What I've to do? 1 comment 0 kwoxer October 16, 2015 Same issue here. And cannot solve it =/ Already tried https://www.digitalocean.com/community/questions/ubuntu-14-04-apt-get-update-404-not-found-issue with kakeiso97' apache 404 error log comment. But no change. I'm having a simple PHP project and I can't http://askubuntu.com/questions/719240/apache-server-problem-404-page-not-found-but-file-exists get pages to show except for a home page but when I have localhost/register or localhost/login then those pages are not showing up. I have to say that same project works fine on Windows so I have came to conclusion that there are needed some extra adjustments on Apache server on Ubuntu but I don't know what exactly. server apache2 php share|improve this question edited Jan 10 at 1:16 andrew.46 11.4k83265 asked Jan 9 at 23:17 bodyhammer 11 1 Firstly, try a simple index.html file. You can use this to diagnose if this is Apache not showing the files (in which case check the DocumentRoot is correct). This might also be a related issue to this question: askubuntu.com/a/296407/24781 –Laice Jan 10 at 0:07 I faced that exact problem into my Apache2 on Debian and i didn't turn on any special setting. Just seems like a super cache wich does not refresh. About the "localhost", just add a new entry on your hosts file (/etc/hosts or C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts) then configure your webpage

Have created a ".cgi" file that runs a Perl script. When I enter URL "localhost/cgi-bin/Budget/budget.cgi", the script executes and produces visible HTML output. But when I try to invoke this script from within a separate web page using "" I get a 404 error, and the page says the file does not exist in "/Library/WebServer/Documents/Budget/localhost/cgi-bin/Budget/budget.cgi". Absolutely NOTHING I have tried will get Apache apache 404 error to look for this in the correct location. It should not be looking in "/Library/WebServer/Documents", it should be looking in "/Library/WebServer/CGI-Executables". To me, an error clearly exists in http.conf, but I don't know what to look for. I've tried several articles which recommend various configuration alterations, but none of them worked. I will attach my http.conf file after I create this post. # # This is the main Apache HTTP server configuration file. It contains the # configuration directives that give the server its instructions. # See
Member I am coming across a very strange error that I cannot figure out. Here is a link to the file gallery: http://www.plastikhosting.net/autoindex.php?dir=tristanlee85/ Now, when you browse that gallery, the existing files are shown. If I click on the file to download it, I get a 404 error when the file truely exists on the system. I checked permissions and set them to 777 and I still get the error. The only time I am able to get the file to appear is if I force download the file by setting those parameters in the AutoIndex config file. The thing is, AutoIndex isn't the reason I can't download these file. It has to be something with the server. I have no idea where to start on as to why the file exists on the system and is shown to exist in the gallery script, but when you go to download it there is a 404 error. tristanlee85, Jul 3, 2006 #1 till Super Moderator Staff Member ISPConfig Developer Please post the output of: ls -la /home/www/www.plastikhosting.net/users/tristanlee85/web/P5210004.JPG or ls -la /var/www/www.plastikhosting.net/users/tristanlee85/web/P5210004.JPG if your website root is /var/www. till, Jul 3, 2006 #2 tristanlee85 New Member Code: [[emailprotected] www.plastikhosting.net]# ls -la web/users/tristanlee85/P5210004.JPG Code: -rw-rw-rw- 1 apache apache 960883 Jul 3 02:37 web/users/tristanlee85/P5210004.JPG tristanlee85, Jul 4, 2006 #3 tristanlee85 New Member This is completely stupid. Here are some scenerior. To start off, this file DOES exist: /users/tristanlee85/P5210004.JPG When I visit: /users/tristanlee85/P5210004.JPG - 404 error /users/tristanlee85/ - 404 error /users/ - 403 error If the autoindex program can read the directory, it obviously exists. I even manually changed everything within /users/ to 0777 and I still get this error. tristanlee85, Jul 4, 2006 #4 tristanlee85 New Member I finally figured it out. It was the stupidest thing ever (at least I think). Appearantly there is a virtual host called "users". Well, since I had a folder called "users" in my /home/www/web17/web/ directory, when I called for the "users" folder in the /web/ folder, it must have been looking elsewhere, possibly /home/www/web17/users or something. Regardless, I re-named it to "uploads" and it all works perfectly. Sometimes the littlest things are a pain. tristanlee85, Jul 4, 2006 #5 (You must log in or sign up to reply here.)
