everything down from my site, I did a clean install of WP 2.9.2 and BP 1.2.3, making sure that WP worked before custom 404 error iis I added BP. WP is in my root folder. I changed the 404 error iis 8 permalinks from default to day and time. I am using the BP default theme. The only BP http 404 error in iis links that work are "log in" and "log out". Everything else returns a 404 error. The URL is http://www.thedigitalartist2.com and is hosted on a Windows server. I already 404 error in iis 7 tried an install with WPMU with the same results, and have tried several changes to the htaccess that didn't work, either. I've done a lot of searching, but haven't been able to find an answer. And it looks as though I'm not the only one with this issue. Thoughts? Please? Viewing 16 replies - 1 through 16 (of

Does your site work with BP installed? Carol PentletonMember @cpentleton 6 years, 6 months ago The rest of the site works. BP does not. jivanyParticipant @jivany 6 years, 6 months ago Bummer. IIS isn't really that common with WP and I think the majority of people here are using Apache based hosts. You could try what is mentioned at the end of this thread: https://buddypress.org/forums/topic/friendly-http-error-messages-causes-404 The specific error it talks about isn't what you're seeing though as I get a 404 on your site with Firefox also. This link talks about a modified 404 error handler to deal with some of the oddities in IIS handling: http://ikailo.com/94/url-modrewrite-workaround-iis-60/ If you do get this working, please post back here and/or in the FAQ topic because it seems there are a lot of IIS users runn

I cannot change this. To resolve the permalinks issue in IIS, "index.php" has 401 error iis been added to all permalinks per WordPress instructions. This fixes all of the links. BuddyPress, when installed, does not display 500 error iis any user profile information, instead, all user profile links result in a 404 error. Even if I add index.php to the path, this only results in providing a fancy 404 screen instead of https://buddypress.org/support/topic/404-error-on-bp-links/ the basic one. Without switching off of the Microsoft server, and without changing the permalink setting already established (which includes index.php), how can I resolve the 404 errors that result when trying to display profile information? Thanks much in advance. Viewing 2 replies - 1 through 2 (of 2 total) Paul GibbsKeymaster @djpaul 2 years ago What about any other links generated by BuddyPress content? For example, https://buddypress.org/support/topic/404-errors-with-iis-assistance/ groups, activity stream, etc. There is this https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/iis7-web-config/ but it was written about 4 years ago and the core team collectively do not use IIS at the moment. If you can help us figure out the correct config for BP on IIS, we can update the docs which would be wonderful. 🙂 peternepstadParticipant @peternepstad 1 year, 11 months ago I tried updating my web-config to match the link above, but it did not work. All of the Buddypress links in the profile generate 404 errors. It must be related to the permalinks issue in iis, but beyond that I don't know. Do you know of any iis BuddyPress sites at all? I had 1.0.X versions of Buddypress installed before this, which seemed to work, but I decided to wait for subsequent versions to actually use it. I'm having 404 error trouble with 404 errors that seem to be related to URL rewriting. I have Micronovae's Mod_Rewrite Proinstalled, which has always worked for Wordpress MU. When I click "create a group" on any computer other than the server, I am given a 404 error on both IE8 and Firefox. However, if I click "create a group" on the server, using the same URL, it works perfectly on both IE8 and Firefox. Does anyone have any idea why it would 404 error iis work on the server, but not anywhere else? There are several other sites hosted on this server, so I was thinking it could be a host header problem, but I don't see anything wrong with my set up. I am using the standard .htaccess file for Wordpress MU installed in a root folder. Blogs are set up as subfolders, not subdomains. I started off using ISAPI PHP, but I have switched to FastCGIas oneattempt to diagnose the problem. I'm using the newest PHP 5.3. I've talked with Micronovae and they don't think it is a problem with their product. There are similar problems on the Buddypress forums, but nothing exactly like I have, and there aren't many solutions, nor a lot of expertise withIIS. Ideas? This might also rule out rewrite as the cause. Thanks, kehand Reply ceslick 4 Posts Re: Buddypress 404 error Mar 04, 2010 12:52 AM|ceslick|LINK I think I found the problem, although I don't know how to fix it. If I disable "friendly http error messages" in IE., it works correctly. This was disabled on the server's browserby coincidence, which is why it worked. When I dis
