Hi Jason It's actually amazingly simple and (almost) straightforward! You need a plain text file at the top of the site's directory (ie, the same place as your index.html file) that has the file name of .htaccess The file should have the following line in it: ErrorDocument 404 /error.html where the error.html is the name of your page to be displayed when there is an error. As far as I know, this is the method that the majority of web servers use to locate your 404 file. The only drawback with it is if you use a unix-based system (including Mac OSX) to create your site. The OS will whinge about having a file name that beings with a . and it won't display the file in your local directory. Dreamweaver, however, does display it in its site window. Hope that's clear. I only ask as I am having the exact same problem. It is so damned frustrating, spent the past 2 days trauling google and various forums and there seem to be so many conflicting instructions. I am using xampp by the way and the only thing that I see that seems to be wrong is in the MinMySQLAdmin window, where under Environment, the MyODBC panel simply says "Not found. Driver 3.51 not found."Christ almighty! I have searched google for a solution to this and as to whether it is even relevent to what I am trying to do (connect to the mysql database in Dreamweaver for a login page for my website) and can never seem to find a straightforward answer to the problem.Any help would be seriously appreciated - for example the information that I have/should have typed into the site definition. Also, why does xampp come with both MySQL and Apache - aren't they both servers?Cheers,Dan AlanC Replied 20 Nov 2006 05:30:20 404 means that the page was not found on the server.
