We have an article that you can use called creating a custom 404 error page. The 404 error is a standard error message but you can direct a customer to a page by adding the code in your .htaccess file like this: ErrorDocument 404 index.html This will show the index page when the 404 error shows. By Joe Burns Tweet Ah, the aggravating 404 error page. You've seen it. There you are, surfing in your favorite search engine when you happen upon just the thing you're looking for. You click: (***Raspberry Sound Effect***) Nothing but a white page with the words "404 Error" and some other techie-sounding speak beneath. What's even more http://www.htmlgoodies.com/beyond/reference/article.php/3472591/How-Do-I-Create-a-Custom-404-Error-Page.htm cheesy about the error code is that it really doesn't tell you what the problem is. Better yet, ask them if you might mess things up by doing this. Your .htaccess File This is the file that will do the trick for you. You should already have one waiting inside of your Web site directory. If

It is well-supported, feature-rich, and flexible. When designing your web pages, it is often helpful to customize every piece of content that your users will see. This includes error pages for when they request content that is not available. In this guide, we'll demonstrate how to configure Apache to use custom error pages on Ubuntu 14.04. Prerequisites To get started on with this guide, you will need a non-root user with sudo privileges. You can set up a user of this type by following along with our initial set up guide for Ubuntu 14.04. You will also need to have Apache installed on your system. Learn how to set this up by following the first step of this guide. - echo "
Error 404: Not found :-(
" | sudo tee /var/www/html/custom_404.html - echo "
I have no idea where that file is, sorry. Are you sure you typed in the correct URL?
" | sudo tee -a /var/www/html/custom_404.html - echo "
Oops! Something went wrong...
" | sudo tee /var/www/html/custom_50x.html - echo "
We seem to be having some technical difficulties. Hang tight.
" | sudo tee -a /var/www/html/custom_50x.html We now have two custom error pages that we can serve when client requests result i
