Hillary ClintonHillary Clinton's 404 page is just the ticketIn the name of balance we totally checked out Donald Trump's 404 page and it was thoroughly uninspiring, but at least inoffensive. But if the US presidential election was decided on the quality of the candidates' 404 page then Hillary Clinton would win the heck out of it, for the GIF of her having trouble with her train ticket and for the link for getting people to sign up to volunteer.02. Dan WoodgerGuys, it's a cheeseburger on skates; what's not to love? Some 404 pages are little technical masterpieces, and some, specifically Dan Woodger's, feature a drawing of a cheeseburger on roller skates. It might push any boundaries but it at least give you an idea of Dan's style, and encourages you to click through to the rest of his work.03. FigmaMessing with vectors is so much fun when it's not actual workEven though we have a copy of Adobe Illustrator right here, and could play with anchor points and Bézier curves literally any time we want, we're still entranced by Figma's 404 page, in which the big 404 is rendered in vectors that you can reshape to your heart's content.04. In his live post-debate show Wednesday night, Colbert lit into Donald Trump for refusing to say he would accept the results of the Nov. 8 election, and Colbert wasn't done 24 hours later. "Now the polls pretty much all say Clinton won, but Trump is no longer accepting the polls — or reality," he said, noting that Trump pledged on Thursday to "totally accept" the results "if I win." The audience booed, but Colbert laughed. "Come on, you got to give it to him," he said, pointing toward Trump: "You really got me for a second there: I actually believed you had a shred of integrity." Colbert put this in perspective. "What an amazing psych-out, you know, a national psych-out," he s

The web site hosting server will typically generate a "404 Not Found" web page when a user attempts to follow a broken or 404 error dead link; hence the 404 error is one of the most recognizable errors encountered on the World Wide Web. In the code 404, the first digit indicates a client error, such as a mistyped Uniform Resource Locator (URL). The following two digits indicate the specific error encountered. HTTP's use of three-digit codes is similar to the use of such codes in earlier protocols such as FTP and NNTP. At the HTTP level, a 404 response code is followed by a human-readable "reason phrase". The HTTP specification suggests the phrase "Not Found"[1] and many web servers by default issue an HTML page that includes both the 404 code and the "Not Found" phrase. A 404 error is often returned when pages have been moved or deleted. In the first case, it is better to employ URL mapping or URL redirection by returning a 301 Moved Permanently response, which can be configured in most server configuration files, or through URL rewriting; in the second case, a 410 Gone should be return
you click a link and encounter a "404 File Not Found" error? Do you: Click on the BACK button of your browser and go somewhere else? Try to back up one directory in the URL (ie, web address) and try again? Write to the webmaster of the site and the referring site to inform them of the situation? If you are like most people, you'll simply click on the BACK button and try another place. The majority of people don't even know that there are any other alternatives. You thus need to do something so that you do not lose this group of people who come to your site by following an old link or by typing your URL incorrectly. Requirements for Customizing the 404 File Not Found Page It is not possible to customize your 404 error page if your web host has not enabled this facility for your website. For example, at the time of this writing, if you host at free web hosts like Geocities or Tripod, you will not be able to customize your 404 Error Page. Commercial web hosts, on the other hand, usually provide this facility. If your web host supports a way to customise your 404 file, you will usually find mention of it somewhere in their documentation (or advertisements). In fact, if they mention somewhere that you can customize a file named ".htaccess", it probably means that you can also customize your 404 File Not Found error page. The .htaccess file is what Apache web servers use to allow you to fine-tune your web server configurations at a directory level. Other types of web servers handle the customization of 404 error pages differently. (A web server, in this context, is the software that runs on your web host's computer. It is the program that "serves" your web pages to your visitors.) Step One: Creating/Modifying the .htaccess File This step may not be necessary in all situations. Some web hosts already configure their web server so that i
