Notes Error Access To Data Denied Local Archive
creating new memo or opening mail file Technote (FAQ) Question When you open your mailfile, create a new memo, or in some cases, switch among emails in the Preview pane, one of the following errors occur: "Access to access to data denied lotus notes data denied " or "Cannot create file " In cases where the error occurs when opening lotus notes access to data denied error the mail file, you may also find that you are unable to move or delete the mailfile. Answer This issue can be caused by a number of reasons which are listed below: Lack of Free Space on PC Too many temporary files, too little free space on the drive where the Windows Virtual Memory is located, or the Windows Virtual Memory settings are not large enough can cause this problem. To resolve this issue, clean out the temporary files (usually stored by default in the C:\Windows\Temp directory), clear up some free space on the drive, or modify the Windows Virtual Memory settings (Right-click My Computer, select Properties and on the Advanced tab, select Performance Options). For more information on these areas, please consult your Microsoft Windows documentation. Virus Infection of Mail In at least one case, this issue was the result of incoming messages that were infected with the Netsky.D virus, however there was no room available to quarantine the files or mail database. Clearing enough space to allow the infected items to be quarantined and running a virus removal utility resolved the issue. Running Windows 2000 Professional Service Pack 2 or lower in combination with a Novell Netware Network In this case, upgrading to service pack 3 for Windows 2000 Professional resolved the issue. It is also recommended that the Novell network client be at least version 4.83. It was found that the specific issue above only happens on Novell Netware networks. In this case, the file C.Lotus.Notes.Data in temp directory of the user directory (C:\documents and settings\username......) had been corrupted or damaged. During troubleshooting it was found that if you check the attribute of the file C.Lotus.Notes.Data, it was not hidden, but if you explicitly stated that you wanted it to have the attrib of -h it worked for a while. Another workaround was to delete the C.Lotus.Notes.Data file and let Notes recreate it, but the issue would eventually recur. A permanent workaround was to change the temp variable to state a file not in the user's directory, for example C:\WINNT\Temp. It is also recommended that the customer upgrade to Novell network client 4.83 Running Windows 2000 Professional Service Pack 4 in combination with Novell Netware Network (version 6.5) Issue

Recently users started recieving "access to data denied" http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21093347 errors while working with the application. There is no consistent pattern involved. Both PC and Mac users use this applicaiton. PC users are on windows XP, however I believe it has all started as users started upgrading to Windows 7 from Windows XP but I am not sure if this could cause any issues. It started off with one user reporting the error and we http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/nd6forum.nsf/DateAllFlatweb/39a774ee86d9081185257c5a0073cab9?OpenDocument ignored, but all users started recieving it with almost every click and now our users are really annoyed. users do have enough free space on the computer, deleting of temporary files, compacting workspace, recreating notes.ini file, none of this helped resolve the issue. Please help. Thanks, Vandana Return to top Access to Data Denied errors (Vandana Kuncham... 8.Jan.14) . . RE: Access to Data Denied errors (Mark Taylor 8.Jan.14) . . . . Solved Cannot Access Existing Mail Archive Posted on 2010-02-19 Lotus IBM 1 Verified Solution 5 Comments 1,647 Views Last Modified: 2013-12-18 I'm a regular user on our Lotus Domino system--not sure what version. My client is LN 7. My mail box corrupted and I was issued a new ID file--I still have the old ID file. Using the new ID file, I cannot access the email archive, which is local to my PC--not on a file share. If I File...Database...Open, and select the archive file (NSF), I receive "Your ID failed authentication check. Access is denied". Incidentally, using the old ID file, I can still acces the ID file, but I cannot talk to the Domino server (obviously). How can I re-enable my access to my archive file? 0 Question by:stork363 Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google Best Solution bystork363 For the record, my email account was restored and I was able to open the database that was created by copying the original without preserving the ACL. Probably not the best solution, but I'm up. Click OK. Then Compact the database. Next, open the ACL of the database, and check that Enforce consistent ACL isn't checked. If it is, just leave it, but it might make things more difficult. Then, switch to your new ID, and open the archive again. It should now be possible. 0 Message Author Comment by:stork3632010-02-20 Okay, I try that Monday. But I don't think the database is encrypted. I'll check the ACL settings. One thing I tried late yesterday was to copy the database to a new one and I set it to not copy the ACL settings. I'll let you know what works. 0 LVL 15 Overall: Level 15 Lotus IBM 13 Message Expert Comment by:akhafaf2010-02-21 Hi there stork,,,, In this cacse I would do it the stone ages way simply by copying the emails not the database .
