Solved: MS SQL Server Desktop Engine Discussion in 'Windows XP' started by masada, Nov https://forums.techguy.org/threads/solved-ms-sql-server-desktop-engine.771697/ 21, 2008. Thread Status: Not open for further replies. Advertisement masada Thread Starter Joined: Nov 21, 2008 Messages: 2 I have no idea what this is, but for some reason it wants to install http://software.programming4.us/forums/t/152835.aspx every time I start a program. I don't know if it pertains to any specific program, but I want it to stop trying to install. Within the list of currently installed programs, there active directory is one called MS SQL Server Desktop Engine but it has (SONY_MEDIAMGR) after it. The only Sony program I'm aware I have is Vegas but this has never given me problems before. I try to uninstall the listing for this but I get "An error has occurred while removing the SQL Active Directory Helper Service" followed by "Fatal Error During Installation." Whatever that means. I will say that active directory helper I recently installed a new anti-virus program called CA Security Center, and it was around that time that I started seeing this SQL Server Desktop Engine start wanting to install anytime I start a new program. I just don't see the connection. Any help on how to get rid of this would be appreciated! masada, Nov 21, 2008 #1 masada Thread Starter Joined: Nov 21, 2008 Messages: 2 It was the CA anti-virus suite. Apparently, there was a section of the program that wasn't installed properly so every time a program started, the anti-virus program would question it by starting a query. In a roundabout way it sorta makes sense...sorta. masada, Nov 21, 2008 #2 This thread has been Locked and is not open to further replies.
