This documentation is archived and is not being maintained. unable to open debugger port : java.net.bindexception "address already in use: jvm_bind" Error Message: WINSOCK Error: Address already in use. Explanation: Only one usage of each address is permitted. The "address" refers to the local "socket name", which is comprised of the following three elements: protocol, port-number, and IP address. User Action: User suggestions: Do not run two server applications of the same type on the same computer. For instance, this error occurs if you try to run two applications that connect to one FTP server. Developer suggestions: Do not call bind() in a client application. Instead, let the network system assign the local port (very few application protocols require a client to bind to a specific port number or port number range). It is possible to call setsockopt(SO_REUSEADDR) to allow duplicate local addresses in a single application, but it is not recommended. IIS Express address already “The specified port is in use” up vote 12 down vote favorite 3 We know a random port number is assigned to a web application in Visual Studio. It works fine in my office desktop. But when I pull the code onto my laptop (from VisualStudio.com) and run the web app. I got a message, saying, The specified port is in use Port 10360 is already being address already in used by another application. Recommendations Try switching to port other than 10360 and higher than 1024. Stop the application that is using port 10360. I can fix it using Recommendation #1 by changing the port into something else like 13333. But I am very curious what happened to port 10360. How can I check what application is using port 10360? How can I stop that application? visual-studio-2013 iis-express share|improve this question asked Mar 22 '14 at 3:00 Blaise 4,845104399 add a comment| 8 Answers 8 active oldest votes up vote 18 down vote accepted i solve the problem this way... Join Now I've been using this ftp for more than 4 months on a daily basis for backups. Suddenly, I started receiving error 530 saying username/password incorrect. Review IIS default ftp and it wasn't there. Reinstalled the Default ftp site. Now it says (stopped) and when you try to start, error: address already in use. Any ideas? Reply Subscribe RELATED TOPICS: Do you know how to set up a ftp asa5505 FTP Can't connect to FTP   4 Replies Jalapeno OP Chris4738 Jun 24, 2010 at 3:11 UTC I have seen something similar before but for the life of me can't remember how I stopped it from happening. One way to figure things out is to use the command line or FTP program and see what message you are getting when you try to connect. At the command prompt type: ftp localhost Then google something what you see. Sorry can't be of more help. My memory isn't what it used to be. 0 Chipotle OP Stonefish Jun 24, 2010 at 3:37 UTC Sounds a bit like there is a session already open. Give it a reboot.... that'll probably sort it out.  (I know, I hate saying it too but it'll probably work !) 0 Datil OP John2851 Jun 24, 2010 at 9:57 UTC What does netstat -n show as being in use? 0 Sonora OP Bev Jun 30, 2010 at 7:45 UTC Thanks to all who replied. I found the culprit. FileZilla on both servers was utilizing port 21. Somehow the default ftp service had completely been removed. I uninstalled FileZilla, reinstalled the default ftp service, restarted and everything started working again. I appreciate all of the responses and really appreciate having a platform available to post such questions and all of the collective group of experts that post the replies. Thanks again, I love Spiceworks. 0 This discussion has been inactive for over a year.
