Error [SOLUTION] Adobe Flash updater with Internet Explorer Script Error August 29, 2012/9 Comments/in Uncategorized /by brmorrisA client was trying to update Adobe Flash to 11.4 http://www.brianmorristech.com/solution-adobe-flash-updater-with-internet-explorer-script-error/ (down with Adobe and their rage-inducing update policy), but she got a pop-up https://support.mozilla.org/questions/982093 windows in the final phase of the update: Internet Explorer Script Error An error has occurred in the script on this page. Line: 1 Char: 18292 Error: Object expected Code: 0 URL: http://127.0.0.1:1821/app/_js/index.js What this means -- I don't know. But here is how I worked around it - visit adobe flash this page: http://helpx.adobe.com/content/help/en/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html#main-pars_header On this question in the Adobe help there is a download link for Flash Player for ActiveX. I ran that and it updated fine. Please comment if this did or didn't help. Richard says: November 9, 2012 at 9:52 am The recommendation to download the Flash Player for ActiveX is the only solution that has worked & I have spent hours every day for nearly a week trying to solve this problem. Every other solution stopped prior to finish. The Adobe site and suggestions are a waste of time. FYI the script error code I had were: Line 1, Character 12948, Error Object expected, Code ), URL http://127/0.0.1:1807/app/-is/adobe.js Thank you for this recommendation. Peggy says: December 3, 2012 at 10:56 pm This worked. Thank you so much. I've tried installing several times and always get the script error. You have had two years to fix this problem and all your suggested solutions do not work. I cannot see any alternative but to go back to Internet Explorer. It is so frustrating when I am checking my emails and click on a link to get the same message over and over again. Why is it that this problem only happens with Firefox? It does not happen with Internet Explorer and it does not happen with Google Chrome. Otherwise Mozilla Firefox is great. I am so fed up with the error message that adobe flash plugin has crashed. Chosen solution This from Halofromsue copied here: Okay like I said in my last post, Yesterday I disabled Shockwave in Plugins. However, as you all know, you need shockwave and flash for most things....so I went back and set it to say "ASK TO ACTIVATE" so when a web page loads and needs it, it will ask me and then I'll either say "yes" or "no" and that seems to be working. So far, after three hours it hasn't crashed and shockwave/flash all work fine when it needs it. From me: It works! Read this answer in context 0 Question tools Get email updates when an
