I'm an IT guy and one of our users put in a ticket with screen shots showing an error message they get every single day when they sign on to their Windows XP computer. The first error message says:FlashPlayerUpdateService.exe - Application ErrorThe instruction at "0x7c9113c0" referenced memory at "0x00050005". The memory could not be "written". Click OK to terminate the program. The user clicks OK and then this comes up."Adobe Flash Player Update Service 11.3 r300 encountered a problem and needed to close." It then has the date and time of the error (which is when she logged into the PC) and a Send / Don't Send error report button, which we know are just placebos because sending these reports don't fix the problem. What do you think is causing this? I wanted to report the error not only to get help on it but to make the product better so future versions can be written to not have these errors. EXE ("executable") files, such as FlashPlayerUpdateService.exe, are files that contain step-by-step instructions that a computer follows to carry out a function. When you "double-click" an EXE file, your computer automatically executes these instructions designed by a software developer (eg. Adobe Systems Incorporated) to run a program (eg. Adobe® Flash® Player Update Service) on your PC.Every software application on your PC uses an http://www.solvusoft.com/en/files/error-virus-removal/exe/windows/adobe-systems-incorporated/adobe-flash-player-update-service/flashplayerupdateservice-exe/ executable file - your web browser, word processor, spreadsheet program, etc. - making it one of the most useful kinds of files in the Windows operating system. Without executable files like FlashPlayerUpdateService.exe, you wouldn't be able to use any programs on your PC. Why Do I Have EXE Errors? Because of their usefulness and ubiquity, EXE files are commonly used as a method of delivery for virus / malware infection. Often, viruses will be disguised as a benign EXE file (such as FlashPlayerUpdateService.exe) and distributed through SPAM email or malicious websites, which can then infect your computer when executed (eg. when you double-click the EXE file). In addition, viruses can infect, replace, or corrupt existing EXE files, which can then lead to error messages when Adobe® Flash® Player Update Service or related programs are executed. Thus, any executable files that you download to your PC should be scanned for viruses before opening - even if you think it is from a reputable source. When Do EXE Errors Occur? EXE errors, such as those associated with FlashPlayerUpdateService.exe, most often occur during computer startup, program startup, or while trying to use a specific function in your program (eg. printing). Reboot and the problem should be solved.Optionally, after you are sure it's solved, you could re-install the latest version of Flash right here: http://get.adobe.com/en/flashplayer/But most software and applications run fine without it, so only do so if you're sure you even need it.\0/-Sec Back to top #3 kymakmsc kymakmsc Topic
