One way to reduce the size of a PDF is to use the File | Save As | Reduced Size PDF option in the full, non-free version of Adobe Acrobat. If you get an error: An error was encountered while processing images, then try using the preflight tool to reduce transparency. In the full version of Adobe Acrobat, select Edit | Preflight In the Preflight window, under PDF Fixups, select "Flatten Transparency". Select any resolution, selecting low is fine Click on "Analyze and fix" Close the preflight window. I first created a PDF from within PowerPoint (Office for Mac). When I optimize the PDF in Acrobat, I https://www.terraswarm.org/terraswarm/faq/88.html consistently receive a "conversion warning" message stating the an "error was encountered while processing images." I don't have a problem saving PDFs from programs such as InDesign or Illustrator. I tried converting the ppt to an earlier version but receive the same warning in Acrobat.Any ideas how to fix this? I have a lot of .ppt files to convert into PDF. Thanks. I have the same question Show 0 Likes(0) 15835Views Tags: none (add) This content has been https://forums.adobe.com/thread/870367 marked as final. Show 10 replies 1. What method did you use for creating the PDF file? Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions 2. Re: Optimizer warning: error encountered while processing images KodaNuka Jun 27, 2011 5:49 PM (in response to Steve Werner) The PowerPoints consist of photos and text. I don't know the image formats because the ppts were put together by meeting attendees. I image most are jpg. I have about 10 ppt files to convert to PDF. I created the PDFs in PowerPoint: File>Save As PDF. I've tried a bunch of different things but I still receive the same error message. Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions 3. Re: Optimizer warning: error encountered while processing images Steve Werner Jun 27, 2011 6:58 PM (in response to KodaNuka) I just did a test with PowerPoint 2011 on the Mac. I placed several JPEG files into a set of slides. I created a PDF file the same way you did (File > Save As PDF).Then I used Optimizer in both Acrobat 9 and Acrobat X to reduce image resolution to 72 ppi. I encountered no errors in either version of the program. What version of PowerPoint are you using? Have you try re-saving the PPT files in Powerp

I am trying to reduce a file size and keep getting this message" an error was encountered while processing images" I have a large newsletter, 20MB, and need to reduce while keeping pics and data. What can I an error do to circumvent this error? Suzanne Vaaler 1 Answer Edit Answer (for another -28 minute) This sounds like you are dealing with a corrupt PDF file, and unfortunately there is nothing you can do to prevent that error. What you can try to do is determine which of the images in your PDF file an error was is causing this problem by first determining which page contains it, and then removing one image at a time until you find the image that causes the problem. You can then replace that image with one that is not corrupt.
