An Error Has Occurred During Report Processing Cannot Create A Connection To Data Source
Report file path initialized in page code file: protected void Page_Init(object sender, EventArgs e) { ReportViewer1.LocalReport.ReportPath = "Reports/Source/Untitled.rdlc"; } When report renders, I got next error: A data source instance has not been supplied for the data source 'DataSet1'. Connection works normally (I tested it), and when I try to run my report in MS SQL Server Report Builder - it works normally too (report was generated). asp.net reporting-services reportviewer share|improve this question asked Jun 20 '12 at 12:43 Evgeny Levin 3,42222160 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 5 down vote accepted On your rdlc report there is a dataset called "DataSet1" that you have added while designing the report. You need to pass the data this Dataset will use to render the report. This is done through the localreport datasources collection. Note that it is plural meaning you can have more than one dataset in your report. ReportViewer1.LocalReport.DataSource

'Error: '------------------ An error occurred during local report processing An error has occured during report processing DataSet1 '--------Code from form test3 with Reportviewer1 Imports Microsoft.Reporting.WinForms Public Class test3 Private Sub test3_Load(sender As Object, e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load 'TODO: This line of code loads data into the 'ReportData.Members' table. You can move, or remove it, as needed. 'Me.MembersTableAdapter.Fill(Me.ReportData.Members) Dim tstMembers As System.Data.DataTable Dim tstReportMember As New rptMbr tstMembers = tstReportMember.Mbr Dim rptData As New ReportDataSource() 'rptData.Name = "DataSet1" rptData.Name = "Dataset1" rptData.Value = tstMembers tstMembers = tstReportMember.Mbr Me.ReportViewer1.LocalReport.DataSources.Clear() Me.ReportViewer1.LocalReport.DataSources.Add(rptData) Me.ReportViewer1.RefreshReport() End Sub '--- end code Notes: 1.In the report rdlc file the dataset is "DataSet1" (note the case of the name) sending it "Dataset1" throws the errors above. 2. After I got it working w/o errors I was still stuck with a blank reportviewer1. Eve

See more: ASP.NET RDLC I have just started RDLC reports but this is freaking me out. I have a business layer class where a method returns a list of objects. I first created a report template (.rdlc file) and I mentioned that particular method. I got the fields in the object and I dragged them to the values portion in the report designer. Next, I created a webform, and then I put a scriptManager and reportViewer in the webform. I chose my rdlc template and bound it to my reportviewer. The dataset was automatically bound using an ObjectDataSource. I did not have to bind the dataset.
