The few times I've seend "an error during the move data process", it's been related to long file names in either the source (where setup.exe is running) or the destination. 04-18-2006 8:21 AM In reply to jschexna Joined on 11-05-2001 Posts 2,924 Re: an error occurred during move data process Reply Contact Contact Platinum but here are some other items to check. If the install comes in a ZIP file, unpack it with the, usually, -D option to maintain the same folder layout. Also place these unzipped files into a hidden temp folder, a folder NOT in the Path.Try a reboot just before installing. If some item is in memory because it was in use, then it cannot be overwritten. For example if Smulock.dll was in use and didn't unload, you can get an error when install tries to copy it.Edited by - john@johnschexnaydre.com on 04/18/2006 08:23:01 AM Page 1 of 1 (3 items) 800.287.4383 | Privacy Policy | Terms & Conditions © 2013 Actian Corporation. I can't install HOMM3, please help! When I had Windows XP years ago, installing and playing Heroes III was never an issue. It wasn't even an issue installing it on a desktop fitted with Windows Vista when I got a new PC. For many months, on the occasion, I've tried to install the game onto a laptop I bought, which also has Windows Vista, however, this is all to no avail. Everytime, without fail, when it is installing, it stops at 76% and freezes. After about 10 minutes of a comatose state, an error pops up saying: An error occurred during the move data process: -106 Component: Sound File Group: mp3 File: COMBAT04.MP3 What is going on?! It might also be worthy of pointing out that I fail the DirectX test everytime, even though I have DirectX 11 and have previously installed every other DirectX version singularly. Although, it does say on the CDs ReadMe file that if your DirectX version is up to date, ignore what the test tells you. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as this is by far one of the best games I have ever played, despite how ancient it is.
