I tried editing the .pst with a hex editor as indicated here: http://www.slipstick.com/problems/scanpst.htm I then ran scanpst.exe again and successfully repaired the file. I did not have to use the crop tool. The user is now cleaning up the email to reduce the amount. I'll then setup an archive schedule to keep it at a manageable size. The slipstick site is great - excellent advice and infromation. I even pulled out my old sliderule and used it!
