years ago by JAG220 Latest reply from vistamike Topic Viewed 9389 times JAG220 Posts: windows dvd maker encoding error 5 This post has been reported. I've registered just for this problem as I've tried just about everything imaginable, and so uninstall ac3filter far no answers from microsoft and other forums. What's happening is that when trying to make a DVD from a video file (photo slideshow plus music works fine) that Windows DVD Maker will get to around http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-windows_programs/windows-dvd-maker-burn-failure/535d32d8-86d1-4f99-a4a3-9b61b32f1bd9 74% encoding and then just stop and give me the error message (at this point the progress meter skips to 99%): "Cannot create the DVD An error occured when burning the DVD" I've tried this using an avi file, (I know it works as I have used DVDFLick and its works great,, the menus are no where near as nice as windows dvd maker), and the sample video file included windows (I http://www.howtogeek.com/forum/topic/windows-dvd-maker-gt-videos-will-not-workburn-at-all beleive its a wmv file). Small video files, the sample one in the public folder, other 700mb avi files. 2. Unchecked all the codecs in the options menu, then checked one at a time, then checked both, *one is AC3Filter, the other is Avi Decompressor from memery, located in the system32 folder, so not sure why it registered there if it's a windows included codec???). 3. http://www.howtogeek.com/forum.....ing/page/2 Have followed this guys instructions on re-registering the required dll files (which I have checked and they are there in the

When I begin burning the DVD (on slow) it burns for about 5 minutes until it automatically emerges to 99% and displays, "Cannot create the DVD" and below that reads, "An error occurred when burning the DVD." The DVD then ejects from the burner. The disc is empty and nothing had actually burned to the disc. Each of these movies are about a gigabyte of space and I am burning them to three separate DVDs. They are in WMV format. Follow 2 answers 2 Report Abuse Are you sure you want to delete this answer? Yes No Sorry, something has gone wrong. Trending N
