SharePoint > SharePoint 2010 - Using SharePoint Designer, InfoPath and Other Customizations Question 0 Sign sharepoint app "an error occurred while processing your request" in to vote Hi, I am on Sharepoint Online I have an Infopath 2010 Form which works fine in Preview, but when I publish it to Sharepoint Online it will every now and then come up with the error: A Microsoft SharePoint Server State Service error occurred while processing your request. For more information, contact your server farm administrator. This message is very sporadic. Is this related to lack of resources from Sharepoint Online? What could be the issue? Thanks. John. is giving a generic error such as ‘An error occurred while processing your request', then you've probably got the debug sharepoint hosted app add-in registration/authentication stuff wrong!". This applies to provider-hosted SharePoint add-ins rather than sharepoint 2013 app redirect not working SharePoint-hosted add-ins, and also doesn't apply to apps which use the Office 365 APIs as an alternative to azure access control service is unavailable the SharePoint add-in model. But for anyone developing/deploying SharePoint add-ins, this is a really common experience for the modern SharePoint/Office 365 developer - everybody screws this up at some https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/9accd8b9-a9cf-453e-bc5f-5e2d7c2f6857/keep-getting-error-a-microsoft-sharepoint-server-state-service-error-occurred-while-processing-your?forum=sharepointcustomizationprevious point :) There are numerous forum posts and probably some existing articles about this, but I always seem to fall into this trap (usually with a typo or something) and then spend 1-2 hours debugging and searching the internet until I remember what specifically the problem is. So, I just wanted to take a short diversion from my Challenges in http://www.sharepointnutsandbolts.com/2015/07/errors-in-sharepoint-apps-add-ins.html Office 365 development - and ways to address them series to write about this; partly just to have a quick reference for the next time I run into the problem, because I know I definitely will :) Symptoms of the problem When you click on your add-in, you are taken to the remote website (e.g. on localhost, or in Azure, IIS, or wherever you published it to) but instead of seeing the default page you simply see a white page with a simple message: This happens because of this boilerplate code which is found in most SharePoint add-ins - see the 'CanNotRedirect' case in particular: Uri redirectUrl; switch (SharePointContextProvider.CheckRedirectionStatus(Context, out redirectUrl)) { case RedirectionStatus.Ok: return; case RedirectionStatus.ShouldRedirect: Response.Redirect(redirectUrl.AbsoluteUri, endResponse: true); break; case RedirectionStatus.CanNotRedirect: Response.Write("An error occurred while processing your request."); Response.End(); break; } If you perform any debugging and step through the code, you'll probably end up in the TokenHelper class, looking at this method: public static string GetContextTokenFromRequest(HttpRequestBase request) { string[] paramNames = { "AppContext", "AppContextToken", "AccessToken", "SPAppToken" }; foreach (string paramName in paramNames) { if (!string.IsNullOrEmpty(request.F
Microsoft SharePoint Server State Service error occurred while processing your request. After upgrading a SharePoint 200 7 application to SharePoint 2010, I was trying to access an http://ppalakollu.blogspot.com/2010/02/microsoftofficeserveradministrationstat.html InfoPath form which was hosted in a web part on a page. The following error showed up on the page instead of the InfoPath Form: Microsoft.Office.Server.Administration.StateServiceLocalizedException: A Microsoft SharePoint Server State Service error occurred while processing your request. So, as the error was related to State Service, I wanted to make sure the state service was an error mapped to the web application. So, I went into the Central Administration site and followed the below steps: Click on Manage web applications under Application Management tab Select the web application in which the error is occurring Click on Service Connections button on the Ribbon (the ribbon should be highlighted once you select the web application) Now, occurred while processing on the popup, click on the checkbox next to the State Service - State Service Proxy option. Make sure the check box is selected. Click Ok Now, return to the web application where the occurred and refresh the page. The InfoPath form should now load without any errors. When I go to this screen in Central Admin, it loads the "default" group of connections (default appears in the drop down"). For the default every box is checked. When I select "Custom" it reloads and nothing is selected. Should I check everything for custom as well. Will that make any difference? March 7, 2012 at 4:56:00 PM EST Prashanth Palakollu said... Depends on the service application you need. If you need the unchecked ones, go ahead and check them. What will happen is the related services on different services will start and start consuming resources.Usually, it is better to just the ser
