I have a pretty big app that I've made some changes to and all of the sudden I get the error: VB6.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program. An error log is being created. I don't know what changes could have caused this and for the life of me, I can't find the error log it mentioned. It's not with my VB project or the VB.exe... any ideas? Thanks! ~Melissa #2 (permalink) February 5th, 2004, 10:50 AM Yehuda Friend of Wrox Join Date: Aug 2003 Location: , , . It is also possible that no error log is really created despite Windows saying there is one. How good is the error handling in your application? Try to shore it up. You might be able to trap the error (though possibly as I said above it is a Windows System Error and those are not always trappable). Look for the log files in the windows\system32 folder. Marco #4 (permalink) November 24th, 2004, 11:25 PM dshankar Register

I upgraded my http://www.techspot.com/community/topics/solved-winmgmt-exe-has-generated-errors-and-will-be-closed.2061/ machine from windows98SE to windows 2000 professional. It was a dream coem true , machine was stable never crashed etc and then suddenly about 2 weeks back I started to get this annoying pop-up windows saying program error "Winmgmt.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows. You will need to restart the program. AN error log is being created". I have tried to delete as much stuff as I could that I have installed in the last month but to no avail. I have also tried to re-install the software ( onto itself without erasing the previous version) but still no luck. While looking at the Administrative tools->Computer management->System Tools->Event viewer->System I ge the following message " Windows management Instrumentation Service terminated unexpectedly It has been done 367 times. The following corrective action will be taken in 60000 milliseconds. Restart the service" And the cycle keeps on and on. It has become a headache trying to compose even a simple Email. Please help. In Registry Editor (Regedit.exe), create a DWORD value called IEWatsonEnabled and set it to 0 in the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main Ifølge brugerens kommentar lidt senere, virkede det efter en genstart.
