I am trying to get microphone input to work with Teamspeak an error RC2. When I go to Control Panel, Sounds and Audio Devices Properties, test hardware, I receive two error messages; "An error occurred during DirectPlay Voice Setup. The error code is 0x80004005," then "Windows cannot execute DpvSetup.exe, use Add/Remove Programs control panel to install." I searched and found dpvsetup.exe in C:\Windows\system32, 82KB, during directplay voice 8/4/2004 8:00 AM, but attempting to run it had no detectable effect. I searched the MS KB, and found http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;282882 for the latter error message, but my Hardware Acceleration is already all the way to the right. My sound chip is a "Realtek AC'97 Audio for VIA (R) Audio Controller." Thank you for anyone who can help! Some other user might have dragged the shortcut from the start menu to their desktop, making it disappear from the start menu. As for a much better alternative, use Audacity. It is free and in my opinion is the best audio recorder/editor. By the way, if you use Audacity, you need to find the lame-enc.dll to save your recordings as mp3s. karbonfyber, Aug 7, 2005 #2 mike5532g Joined: Jun 11, 2004 Messages: 2,312 Sound Recorder Missing from All Programs/Accessories/Entertainment mike5532g, Aug 7, 2005 #3 Platnap Joined: Aug 7, 2005 Messages: 4 When this happened to me, I had to reinstall windows. Use the disk that came with your computer when you bought it and choose the option the reinstall windows without formatting hardrive. That should give you sound recorder back and not delete any of your files. Platnap, Aug 7, 2005 #4 chatterjee Thread Starter Joined: Jul 12, 2005 Messages: 573 Hi, sndrec32.exe is not in C:\WINDOWS\system32\sndrec32.exe but it is in c:\windows\service_pack_files\i386.However,I've found it .Thanks to all of you.But now I'm facing a new problem, when I speak in the microphone the sound recorder doesn't record anything but silence. Why is it happening? chatterjee, Aug 8, 2005 #5 mike5532g Joined: Jun 11, 2004 Messages: 2,312 I guess mine is a little different, because I have it in the system32 and the service pack files\i386 folder. Anyway, back to your problem, double click the volume icon in your notification area and make sure the microphone isn't muted. mik
