An Error Occurred Trying To Connect The Wsus Server
Posted on 2013-02-25 MS Access 4 Verified Solutions 25 Comments 2,355 Views Last Modified: 2013-03-03 Hi! I just created a copy of my database for testing purposes. In the database, I have a saved import specification. In the access error overwriting import/export specification original database, it works fine, but in the copy, I can't use it. This is the code that uses it, that works fine in the original database but not in the copy: DoCmd.TransferText acImportFixed, "TPLStatementImportFromText", "TPLStatement_TEMPDATA", NamePath, False Select all Open in new window When I run it in the copy, I get this error: Run-time error 3800: 'PrimaryKey' is not an index in this table When I try to open the import spec to run the import manually, I get: An error occurred trying to load import/export specification 'TPLSTatementImportFromTest' Any ideas how I can rectify this? 0 Question by:etech0 Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 10 Best Solution byetech0 I got it! I just figured out how to view the system tables, and it turns out that some code I ran messed it up. Basically, I had some code that renamed each table as linked_tablename, and then ran Go to Solution 25 Comments LVL 8 Overall: Level 8 MS Access 2 Message Assisted Solution by:davesgonebananas2013-02-25 Probably not the answer you wanted to hear but, have you tried recreating the import definition? 0 LVL 10 Overall: Level 10 MS Access 4 Message Author Comment by:etech02013-02-25 Not yet. It's long and complicated, and I was hoping to avoid that. I did try copying the data in MsysIMEXColumns from the original db to the copy, and it didn't help. 0 LVL 8 Overall: Level 8 MS Access 2 Message Expert Comment by:davesgonebananas2013-02-25 Yeah, possibly a better 'expert' could help you tweak those Msys tables but it does sound like something has 'gone wrong' with the import definition and recreating it is possibly the quickest solution (even if it's a PITA). 0 LVL 10 Overall: Level 10 MS Access 4 Message Author Comment by:etech02013-02-25 I just tried saving a new import spec, and got "Error
Guest I am using Access 2003 on Vista Ultimate. I have imported 15 or so large csv files without problem. Then the import text wizard failed throwing the following error “An error occurred trying to save import/export specification ‘filename’â€. I did not try to save the export specification but when I “OK†the error and select the Advanced button on the wizard and try to save a specification I get the same error. I have checked that I have SP3 installed. I see this in the Help>About box and also in the update history. I have also uninstalled Access (via add/remove programs) and reinstalled and the reapplied the SP3 https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/28043726/Access-2010-error-with-saved-import-spec.html update. I have tried repairing the install. All to no avail. I have checked and cannot re-import a file that I had earlier imported ok – so I don’t think it is anything peculiar about the file. Not sure if it is relevant but while I have Office 2003 Std Ed. Access 2003 was bought and installed separately. I am at a complete loss and running out of time so any thoughts or http://www.office-forums.com/threads/error-saving-import-export-specification.491060/ help you can give would be very gratefully received. Many thanks, Peter Peter, Mar 28, 2008 #1 Advertisements Albert D. Kallal Guest I would try a compact and repair. You could also test a blank mdb, and do the import from that new mdb...does that work? It is possible your application is corrupted. Perhaps try deleting the spec, and then re-creating it (and, using a different spec name). If the blank mdb works, then trying importing everything from the old mdb to the new one... -- Albert D. I think I might be pushing Access a bit hard - the database is 3GB and growing. I think I'll split it into smaller ones. Peter "Albert D. 2002 on Windows XP. My database uses an external CSV file as a linked table. I have an Import/Export Specification for the linked table. I am trying to modify the data type of one of the fields in the Import/Export Specification. Currently access is linking the field as http://www.pcreview.co.uk/threads/error-saving-import-export-spec.3894061/ a Long Interger when really it should be Text (it's the SSN field). I am making this modification to the Import/Export Specification in the Link Text Wizard and when I click the Finish button I am prompted to save changes to the Import/Export Specification. When i click Yes to save the changes I get "An error occurred trying to save import/export specification..." After clicking OK to this message my only option is to cancel out of the Link Text Wizard, clicking finish again will just an error bring me back to the same error. If I try to link the table one more time after that I will find that the Import/Export Spec no longer exists in the database. I've read other posts which have suggested a Compact and Repair to solve this problem. I order to rule out database corruption as a cause I am trying to link this table in a blank database into which I have imported only the Import/Export Specifications from the original database. Any help would be greatly trying to save appreciated. -Chris Chris Moore, Sep 24, 2009 #1 Advertisements Jeff Boyce Guest Sometimes I've noticed that it just doesn't work. When I've tried everything else (or if I get impatient), I've been know to just junk the old one and start over. Are you having this problem with ALL Import/Export Specs, or just this one? Good luck!
