I'm connected to our database no problem (at least, Test Connection said successful). When I went to add a data source, it was able to pull all of the tables. I selected the table I wanted and clicked add, and it's saying Could not get type information for 'Oven_Schedule_Management.OvenMasterSet'. OvenMasterSet is the name that I gave the dataset. I'm not sure where Oven_Schedule_Management is coming from, because it's not a column in this table. EDIT: I just realized that my application is called Oven Schedule Management c# sql oracle visual-studio-2010 datagridview share|improve this question asked May 21 '14 at 18:25 Alex Kibler 703722 So what is the error? –OldProgrammer May 21 '14 at 23:09 I posted it above. Could not get type information for 'Oven_Schedule_Management.OvenMasterSet. One of my coworkers said that the built-in data source stuff in VS doesn't really work with our databases and to hand code them, so I'm going to do it that way –Alex Kibler May 22 '14 at 11:36 I recreated my project with a name that does not have an underscore '_' in it. I was then able to add a datasource. Very strange... –waltmagic Apr 29 '15 at 21:49 add a comment| active oldest votes Know someone who can answer? OOP code for 10+ years, and am now e****d to learn C#. To help me get going, I recently installed Visual Studio 2005 b2, and have been studying ADO.NET & working through some MS Access projects. I've followed several tutorials on the Data Source Config Wizard, searched MSDN and other online sources, but have come up dry trying to figure out why, whenever I click the Wizard's FINISH button, I get this error: "An error occurred while creating the new data source:Could not get type information for 'MyProject.MyProjectDataSet'." I can add the Access file to the Server Explorer, but can't drag a http://stackoverflow.com/questions/23791050/getting-an-error-occurred-while-creating-the-new-data-source-while-creating-a table to a form. It's behaving differently than the tutorials show, and I've spent three days now trying to determine why. The Config Wizard shows connection strings like "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=|DataDirectory|\Nwind.mdb". Does this look right If anyone would be good enough to point me to a resource, or think of something obvious that I'm missing, it would be a tremendous help.Thank you! .NET Development15 John Chen MS Posted: http://www.databaseforum.info/25/753303.aspx .NET Framework Data Access and Storage, Errors creating new data source Top Hi, I hope my team can help you here.Do you have a link point to the tutorial I would like to check if it is out of date. Yourconnection string looks good! I also tested some access file in my machine. It works fine (althouth I have the final version of the product). You cannot drag a table from Server Explorer to the form. You can only drag it from the Data Source Window. Can you try to open a new DataSet item (in IDE menu File/Add new item/DataSet)to see you can create a datasource from there. Thanks! And I read a relevant article on codeproject.com, but can't find the URL now. Right-clicking my project in the Solution Explorer, then choosing Add->New Item->DataSet opens DataSet1.xsd. Its window tells me to drag database items from the Server Explorer t
the new data source Top I'm having this annoying problem in Visual Studio 2005 when http://www.databaseforum.info/25/1044557.aspx trying to add a new data source. I click Add New Data Source, make the connection to the remote computer which has my database, select the http://forums.asp.net/t/1288334.aspx?Problem+Creating+New+Data+Source+in+VS+2008 tables, then click finish and get the error: An error occurred while creating the new data source: Could not get type information for 'acg.acgdbDataSet'. I reinstalled SQL an error Server 2005 Express on my dev machine to fix a different problem I had with Management Studio, but that didn't help with this problem. I don't really think there's a problem with the database or server because I can connect to it locally andremotely using Server Explorer / Management Studio and administrate the an error occured databases just fine. After the error happens and Visual Studio is done creating the code, there are 91 errors in the Error List, most of them stating: Reference to a non-shared member requires an object reference. And when look at the line of code for that error I see:

I have created a (Service-based) database (*.mdf) and I am trying to create a data source to access the database. The Add new Datasource wizard goes through fine except that at the end it gives me an error saying: " An error occurred while creating the new data source : An error while generating the data source. " And it does create the .xsd file but that's about it. It does not create the data source. I would really appreciate your help on this. Thank you in advance. Some additional information: The database is MS SQL Server file, with the following connection string: Data Source=.\SQLExpress;AttachDbFilename=|DataDirectory|\MyCompany.mdf;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True I am using Visual Studio 2008 and Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express. I am running Windows Vista 32 bit version, I have also tried running as an Administrator but had the same problem. Intel dual core processor with 2GB RAM. Also I have checked the forums and found two relevant threads with the same problem but they concluded that the folder name containging an '&' was the problem. I changed all my folder names without any spaces but still have this problem. I would really appreciate any help on this. Thank you in advance and have a great day. vs 2008 vista vs2008 SQL Server 2005 2008 Vii
