ppt, doc, but not jpg, html zippelk May 22, 2009 6:58 AM hi, I am using Acrobat 8.1.5 Standard and Vista. I suddenly lost the ability to convert ppt and doc files to pdf, but can still do jpg an error occurred while trying to communicate with the print manager (502) and html files. for ppt files it says "adobe pdf printer failed to create the pdf file" or "an error occurred while trying to print to adobe pdf". for doc files I don't even get an error message, just no pdf. I tried to reinstall Acrobat, but no change. odd, right? I'm not real computer literate, but I suspect it is an Office thing, maybe an update that I installed? I have XP Pro, but the versions of an error occurred while printing firefox Word and Ppt say 2002...not sure if that is relevant, but maybe my older versions of these programs are no longer compatible with Acrobat? thanks I have the same question Show 0 Likes(0) 3607Views Tags: none (add) This content has been marked as final. Now try the following steps to troubleshoot the process:1. Go to the print menu and select the Adobe PDF printer and check print-to-file. Select OK and choose a location and file name you can remember. The extension will be prn by default, even though it is a PS file. If this step completes (it should), start Distiller. Open the file in Distiller and see if a PDF is produced (if not, note the error messages that are listed and bring them back).2. If (1) worked, then repeat the process without the print-to-file checked. You should be asked for a location and file name for the PDF file. Does this step work? If not, then check the running tasks (ctrl-alt-del) and be sure that AcroTray is running. If not, go to the Distiller folder and start it, repeating this step.3. Once you have gotten (2) to work, then proceed with PDF Maker, the Adobe icon in WORD or

Chosen solution Doing "Microsoft Print to PDF" (or "Microsoft XPS Document Writer") gets error message "An error occurred while printing" and file does not get created. This error can occur if the Windows "user" environment variable "TMP" has been changed from the default value. The changed value somehow seems to cause "access denied", but this specific reason for the error is not presented to you. A trace of the error occurring revealed this reason. This error does not occur using one of the other browsers IE, Edge, or Chrome. Changing the TMP variable back to the default (%userprofile%\appdata\local\temp) eliminates the error. is a more reliable (but slightly more severe) way to work around this problem.Have you ever tried to print something from Firefox and gotten an error message telling you that an unknown error occurred while printing? I have, and I know http://kasperowski.com/2006/12/firefox-unknown-error-occurred-while.html at least a few other people have had this problem. Apparently, this is an old bug, http://www.fixpdffile.com/blog/resolving-the-drawing-error-occurred-pdf-error/ and the-edmeister has the fix: type about:config in the URL bar and hit EnterPreference name = print.print_printerRight-Click that preference and select Reset, then restart Firefox.See if Firefox is printing any better. I usually can print one document after that, and I have to do it again to print another document. This solution is far from perfect, but it's good enough for an error now. As long as the printer's on, I get no error. June 13, 2009 at 10:14 AM Anonymous said... At some point firefox started giving me this error and searching mostly returned people suggesting to reset the default printer by resetting print.print_printer in about:config. I tried this numerous times and it never helped. I just got annoyed enough to try reinstallig firefox. Both MozBackup and FEBE work great for backing up your profile.I reinstalled Firefox and tried printing and it worked without error. I then restored my profile and the error came back. Then I selectively removed print.* settings by editing my prefs.js file. It turns out somehow print.printer_\\\\PRINTERNAME.print_paper_data was set to 0 which I believe is an invalid value. I noted that the default setting was 1 from a new install and now I can cause the error a
and established network document distribution format. In the current scenario, majority of users who want to share their documents over a network prefer PDF file format. There are numerous reasons as to why PDF files have become so successful a file format to be transferred over the internet. First and foremost, PDF files maintain the original formatting and structure of the documents. Therefore, most users prefer PF files to transfer and share their documents over the network. Secondly, PDF files are much more secure than any other file format to be transferred over the internet. This is so because PDF files have the feature of applying PDF restrictions to the documents and hence can restrict unauthorized and undesirable access to the PDF files. Moreover, you can also password protect your PDF files thereby control access to it. Though PDF files are far more secure than any other file formats, PDF files are still vulnerable to error, damage, and corruption. Let’s consider a real life scenario wherein you are working on Adobe Acrobat 6.0 or 7.0 on Windows and get the following error message: "A drawing error occurred." The root cause behind the occurrence of the above-mentioned error message is either the PDF file you are working with was created using a non-Adobe program or the PDF file is made using Quark 5 with OPI extensions enabled. In order to resolve the aforementioned error, try out either of the following solutions: Solution 1: Delete the Acrobat preferences folder 1.Exit the Acrobat. 2.Choose Start -> Run. 3.In the Open text box, type percentAPPDATA percent\Adobe\Acrobat\ 4.Click the OK button 5.Right-click either the 6.0 or 7.0 folder and select Delete. 6.Start Acrobat and try printing Solution 2: Recreate the PDF file using an Adobe application such as Adobe Acrobat or Export To PDF feature of an Adobe open source application called Adobe In Design or Adobe Illustrator. Solution 3: Update your version of QuarkXpress. You can download the latest update
