Every time I try and save a file, it gives me an error that says: " error occurred accessing your site configuration file. Authors if authoring against a web server, please contact webmaster for server's site. http://www.fmsinc.com/free/NewTips/Office/frontpage.asp Webmasters please see the server's application event log for more details." I have used EW3 for a few years making monthly changes to our website with no issues until now. I am unable to save any changes under the previous name or a new name with out this error coming up. EW4 SP2a is available for download here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=36179. Second, it sounds as if you might be editing live. If so, that is a very bad practice, and since it requires the FPSE, which are being dropped with ever greater frequency by hosting providers, makes you vulnerable to being left high and dry when that day comes. You are advised to revise your procedures and begin editing and testing on your local machine, then publishing to the live site using FTP. Download and install the free, new version, which will install side by side with EW3. See if that resolves your issue. That error message does not sound like anything I've ever heard EW generating, and I suspect it is a server-side error, which you will have to take up with your hosting provider's tech support.

Mar 10, 2006 11:32 AM|ojm37|LINK I had to configure FrontPage Server Extensions. Ran into problems there as well. We like to keep all our virtual servers under \inetpub\wwwroot \inetpub\wwwroot\server1 \inetpub\wwwroot\server2 etc. However, the system would not allow me to have a virtual server under \inetpub\wwwroot! Kept telling me that it was in a subfolder of a web (nested) EVEN THOUGH \inetpub\wwwroot IS NOT a web (i.e., the default web is located at \inetpub\wwwroot\server1!). Once I moved my directory out from under \inetpub\wwwroot, then the extensions installed and I am now able to connect with Visual Studio.... Owen ‹ Previous Thread|Next Thread ›
