I believe it is a registry problem since I have tried different pieces of equipment (headphones, microphones, etc) and different USB ports (I have 7 in all). When I try to test my sound hardware I get the following error: Direct Play Voice Setup: An error occurred during DirectPlay voice setup. The error code is 0x80004005. click OK then I get Windows error: Windows cannot execute DpvSetup.exe, use Add/Remove Programs control panel to install. I have gone into regedit and changed my duplex settings to 3, 3, 2 and it still does not correct it. I did notic

At the end of the test this error message was dispayed: an error occurred during DirectPlay Voice setup The error code is 0x80004005 I then click ok on this error message, and I get an error occurred one saying: Windows Error Windows cannot execute DpvSetup.exe, use add/remove programs to install. I cant find this. What prompted me to do the hardware test was because my clan members say they cannot hear me over a progam called Teamspeak. I can hear myself over the microphone on my own speakers though. The microphone is quite new, so i dont think the problem is there just yet. Is there something trivial I am missing here? I really need to get this working in half an hour... please please please post suggestions! thanks Reply With Quote 05-06-2005,05:50 AM #2 Decapitae View Profile View Forum Posts Private Message Visitor Join Date May 2005 Posts 5 Re: DirectPlay Voice Setup: an error occurred during DirectPlay Voice setup bump Reply With Quote 05-06-2005,11:33 AM #3 Jason-XCL- View Profile View Forum Posts Private Message Whiz Kid Join Date Oct 2004 Posts 7,795 Re: DirectPlay Voice Setup: an error occurred during DirectPlay Voice setup Have you try installing the DirectX again. Some other user might have dragged the shortcut from the start menu to their desktop, making it disappear from the start menu. As for a much better alternative, use Audacity. It is free and in my opinion is the best audio recorder/editor. By the way, if you use Audacity, you need to find the lame-enc.dll to save your recordings as mp3s. karbonfyber, Aug 7, 2005 #2 mike5532g Joined: Jun 11, 2004 Messages: 2,312 Sound Recorder Missing from All Programs/Accessories/Entertainment mike5532g, Aug 7, 2005 #3 Platnap Joined: Aug 7, 2005 Messages: 4 When this happened to me, I had to reinstall windows. Use the disk that came with your computer when you bought it and choose the option the reinstall windows without formatting hardrive. That should give you sound recorder back and not delete any of your files. Anyway, back to your problem, double click the volume icon in your notification area and make sure the microphone isn't muted. mike5532g, Aug 8, 2005 #6 Platnap Joined: Aug 7, 2005 Messages: 4 while in sound recorder, go to edit then audio preferences. A window should pop up. Under the sound recording heading, click on volume. You should see microphone as one of the are
