one on me. The solution is to close the Printer properties dialog, then in the “Device and Printers” window, highlight the printer you want to change, and click on “Print Server Properties” in the menu bar. Then in the next screen, click the ports tab, and “Change Port Settings” Note: If you're using Windows 10, you may want to look at "How to an error occurred during port configuration the requested resource is in use Change Port Settings for Printers in Windows 10" Now you’ll have the configure port button that works. Just select your port and click “Configure Port” and you’ll have access to everything you expected. Hope that helps you out. I don’t know why they made the change, but we’ll just have to improvise, adapt, and overcome. Working with the local Xerox printer tech, we got the driver installed on the server and tested printing. The printer is linked to a desktop computer using windows 7 professional x64 witch https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/25044273/Running-Windows-7-64-Bit-An-error-occurred-during-port-configuration-This-operation-is-not-supported.html is connected to a network. The driver is installed from brother site. I have three computers on the network. One, to witch the printer is connected too, and two other ones who an error are connected to the printer using the network sharing. two computers use windows 7 x64, and one XP. The problem is when i restart. When i log on, after restarting the computer, the printer is offline (in windows 7). When i restart the laptop who uses XP the printer works. I found that if i reboot windows 7 and open computer/network/sharing computer and double click an error occurred on the shared printer, in the devices and printers my mfc 425cn goes online. If i restart or shutdown, it goes offline again. Does anybody have an idea about the solution of this problem? What settings do you find there? It should be on a TCP\IP standard port. Now close out of properties and right-click the printer icon and select Troubleshoot. Let the wizard detect and offer solutions. Brother has a disclaimer regarding printer sharing link here. The only other clue that I could find is the Status Monitor in the MFL Pro Suite software may have something to do with the issue, establishing the connectivity. The network users manual describes enabling the printer server in the device for an ethernet configuration.
