An Error Occurred During The Last Task Quicken
unpredictable Quicken error "An error has occurred during your last task. Please restart Quicken." followed by a program crash (though you'd think that catching the error would cause the prog NOT to crash, but I digress). After scouring the newsgroup, I finally found a post from a long time ago that suggested a fix, and that fix has worked beautifully for me. I think this problem comes when Quicken tries to access files with full filenames (including path) that are too long. It would always crash for me when I would try to import files (QIF downloaded statements). All it took was me copying those files out of My Documents (which has a hugely long path) to something like C:\. Hopefully this will help others with my same problem. Tom p.s. I will include my error signature and related info messages below for searching: Error signature (XP) AppName: qw.exe AppVer: 12.0.1.1 ModName: qw.exe ModVer: 12.0.1.1 Offset: 000792bd Quicken Executable has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. The instruction at "0x0044720c" referenced memory at "0x000004e0". The memory could not be "read". Click on OK to terminate the program. tc, Sep 12, 2004 #1 Advertisements Show Ignored Content Want to reply to this thread or ask your own question? If it http://www.accountantforums.com/threads/an-error-has-occurred-during-the-last-task-possible-solution.31300/ just stopped working you can try doing a system restore to a few days before the problem started. I might mention that 2002 is very old. It has not been supported by quicken for more than 5 years. You might want to consider upgrading to a new version. I tried that and it didn't help. I tried installing it a new directory on my external hard drive and it worked until I tried to import a download and it stopped again. I have seen on the web that other people are having the same problem. Built in failure by intuit. Expert: Robert M. replied4 years ago. The program is only supposed to work for 3 years. Thats how long Intuit will support them. They recomend you upgrade at least every 3 years and wont support anything older than that. When something that is supposed to work 3 years works 10 its hard to call it a built in failure. What exactly do you mean by "stopped again" What is it that the program wont do and what does it do instead ? Thread Status: Not open for further replies. Advertisement 19jss58 Thread Starter Joined: Oct 29, 2002 Messages: 99 My Quicken 2002 Deluxe QDATA.QDF has apparently become corrupted and won't load. After validating it, I get the following DATA_LOG.TXT: 9/23/2014 11:0:7 File: "C:\Program Files\QUICKENW\Qdata" QDF: Fixed damage for account: "*Tax-Deductible Mileage*". QSD: No error. QEL: No read errors. QEL: All internal consistency checks passed Issue is, the damage wasn't actually fixed because the file still won't load. After running QW.EXE, Quicken hangs and won't open and I have to use task manger to close the program manually. I already did a fresh install of Quicken and the native Qdata file (that is installed) opens. But if I attempt to restore my backup file, I get a "file restored successfully" dialog box but then I get "an error has occurred, an error occurred during the last task, please restart Quiken" box and the program closes again. I've tried multiple backup files and each one gets the "*Tax-Deductible Mileage*" error after validating it. How do I fix the QDATA.QDF so that it'll load? Thanks. 19jss58, Sep 23, 2014 #1 CodeLexicon Joined: Oct 15, 2013 Messages: 503 Hi Do any of these issues apply? https://quicken.intuit.com/support/...file---or--unable-to-open-file-/GEN82031.html CodeLexicon, Sep 24, 2014 #2 19jss58 Thread Starter Joined: Oct 29, 2002 Messages: 99 Thanks for the tip.
