I want to save users settings. I use to ConfigurationManagerClass. I read these links(http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.configuration.configurationmanager.appsettings.aspx , http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms134265(v=vs.110).aspx). Then I decided to use PerUserRoaming param. According to this param , settings should be written in "C:\Users\BDagli\AppData\Roaming\DiBASUI\DiBASUI.vshost.exe_Url_zep32lw2fomt1eij4jb2qhip2cbd211o\1.0.0.0\user.config" . But it can not be created. And exception is occured. This is for a Windows Service running on a Enterprise Server 2008 r2 64 bit with SQL Server 2008 in both dev and test environments. This section configures our shared code library to send email out to interested parties whenever an error is handled and published with code like this: catch(Exception ex) { ExceptionManager.Publish(ex); } The error specifics (full detail - names changed to preserve the innocent) 4

Now ifI set some values and then I try an error occurred to save, I get the error: "An error occurred executing the configuration section handler for UserSettings."The inner exception says: "ConfigurationSection properties cannot be edited when locked." can you help me? thanks! An error occurred executing the configuration section handler for connectionStrings. Failed to encrypt the section 'connectionStrings' using provider 'RsaProtectedConfigurationProvider'. Error message from the provider: Object already exists. Failed! I get essentially the same error when I do it programmatically: // Protect the section. connStrings.SectionInformation.ProtectSection(provider); config.Save(ConfigurationSaveMode.Modified); In this case an exception gets thrown in theconfig.Save stepsaying that the Object Already Exists. I'm both cases I'm using the RsaProtectedConfigurationProvider. I'm not sure what object already exists that's causing this error. Any guidance as to what's going on? OpenWebConfiguration(Request.ApplicationPath); ConfigurationSection configSection = config.GetSection("connectionStrings"); if (!configSection.SectionInformation.IsProtected) { configSection.SectionInformation.
