a FLA file was corrupted for some strange reason and we couldn't open it. A unexpected file format flash cs6 little googling to check details on the FLA and XFL format reveals that the FLA file can be unzipped, and with some recover corrupted flash file luck, most of the data can be recovered. Here's how: 1) Rename the file extension of the FLA file to ZIP 2) Use Windows Explorer to unzip the file to a folder - as of time of this http://blogs.adobe.com/animate/tag/flash-professional-cs5-5/ writing, 7-Zip 9.20 cannot open or unzip the file, so its best to stick with Windows Explorer (at least on Windows 7 anyway) 3) ZIP the folder and rename as a FLA file 4) Open in Flash CS5.5, and check your work. If its all OK (or most of the stuff that can be recovered is shown), re-save as a new file 5) Always, always, backup! Hi all, I've got a wierd problem occuring with a flash file an error I'm working on. Any help would be much needed. Basically, I've been working on a flash CS3 file and backing-up all the time in the same folder. I decided to store all these .fla files in a new folder, but when I went to open them again afterwards, flash keeps giving me the error message "An error occured opening file..." (i.e. can't open any of the files anymore - even if I try placing them an error occurred back to where I originally copied them from). Is there any way of getting the files to work again or have I completely lost them? I think I've heard people say something about having problems opening .fla files with certain file types in the same folder, try moving just one .fla in it's own folder and trying to open it. Weird it sounds, but anything is worth a try... Or try opening the .fla on a different computer. I also have a feeng that it might run on another computer, but so far nothing else seems to be opening the file. Thanks again for your help, Reply With Quote « Previous Thread | Next Thread » Thread Information Users Browsing this Thread There are currently 1 users
