An Error Occurred Please Try Again Later
Hardware Status Tab "An error occurred..." TAE Oct 1, 2010 3:24 PM I'm presently perplexed vcenter hardware status communication error with the server by an error that I'm getting whenever I try to view information on the "Hardware Status" tab in vCenter. It doesn't matter if I'm viewing an vcenter service status communication problem with the server ESX 4.0U1 host or an ESXi 4.1 host, they all throw out the same error: "An error occurred, please try again in another vSphere session."I have tried restarting the service, disabling/renabling the Hardware Status plug-in, adjusting Internet Explorer security settings, validating that the Enhanced Security configuration is disabled (I hate that thing), as well as manually removing and re-installing the agent from a test host. It's not a DNS issue. When I connect directly to the ESX host using the vCenter client, I can view the "Health Status" (Configuration tab > Hardware section) without a problem. The vCenter Version: 4.1.0 Build 258902What I've discovered is that the CIM-Diag log (C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\VMware\VMware VirtualCenter\Logs) is showing that apparently there are no hosts in that "Hosts=0" and there are no threads. Below is a snip of the log that demonstrate this working and then when it stopped (formatting intentional to help readability).(Prefix for each line - except date time) 2010-09-09 12:53:47,225 com.vmware.vim.cimmonitor.util.CimDiagnosticsCIM Feed Service Counters:hosts=19;unresponsive=0;activePollThreads=0;activeClientThreads=0;ticketsCreated=8475;eventsSent=1;pollQueueSize=0;clientQueueSize=0CIM Feed Thread Info: pool-5-thread-1{host=;op=;start=} pool-5-thread-3{host=;op=;start=} pool-5-thread-4{host=;op=;start=} pool-5-thread-2{host=;op=;start=} pool-5-thread-9{host=;op=;start=} pool-5-thread-7{host=;op=;start=} pool-5-thread-5{host=;op=;start=} pool-5-thread-10{host=;op=;start=} pool-5-thread-6{host=;op=;start=} pool-5-thread-8{host=;op=;start=} pool-6-thread-1{host=;op=;start=} pool-6-thread-2{host=;op=;start=} pool-6-thread-3{host=;op=;start=}And then things break...(Prefix for each line - except date time) 2010-09-09 13:40:43,046 com.vmware.vim.cimmonitor.util.CimDiagnosticsCIM Feed Service Counters:hosts=0;unresponsive=0;activePollThreads=0;activeClientThreads=0;ticketsCreated=0;eventsSent=0;pollQueueSize=0;clientQueueSize=0CIM Feed Thread Info:(nothing)Now you're probably asking "What hap
information did not update the name correctly, and most importantly you can confirm your settings below: In the vSphere Client, connect to the vCenter Server and select Administration > vCenter Server Settings > Advanced Settings. In the VirtualCenter.VimApilurl and VirtualCenter.VimWebServicesUrl fields, make sure you have the correct hostname or edit as necessary. Click OK. Like this:Like Loading... It worked for me. Thanks a lot Reply Nathan Muleski Says: July 28, 2011 at 9:41 am Worked for me too. The KB from vmWare was a bit misleading about this. It said to use ping to determine if the computer the client is on can resolve the vCenter Server. Turns out it's https://froggyj.wordpress.com/2010/12/31/vmware-hardware-status-tab-an-error-occurred-please-try-again-in-another-vsphere-session/ mapped in vCenter… Good stuff, thanks!
