It is best to check the last SharePoint error log as soon as the error has taken place. The logs are located at: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\LOGS If you are using a browser form, you have to check errors on the SharePoint server, not your local PC (unless your local PC is the server). If you cannot get to the server, you have to contact your system administrator or someone who can check the logs for you. There is a similar issue: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/eu/sharepointinfopath/thread/1a86950c-d722-4a3f-b658-df0f187b1c2f Thanks, Lhan Han Marked as answer by Lhan HanModerator Wednesday, January 18, 2012 2:20 AM Wednesday, January 11, 2012 3:35 AM Reply | Quote Moderator All replies 0 Sign in to vote If you check the SharePoint ULS logs for the time you get the error they s
comment Issue: Open InfoPath 2013 browser enabled form published to SharePoint 2013 site Critical Error An error occurred submitting this form to the Web server. The form will now be closed. Click Start over to load a new copy of the form. If this error persists, contact the support team for the Web site. Click Close to exit this message. Click Close and you see Sorry, something went wrong An unexpected error has occurred. ULS logs show: Microsoft.Office.Server.Administration.StateServiceLocalizedException: A Microsoft https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sharepoint/en-US/aa22161e-4da6-431d-8a47-4672bd707185/an-error-occurred-submitting-this-form-to-the-web-server?forum=sharepointcustomizationlegacy SharePoint Server State Service error occurred while processing your request. Backup existing form. 2. Identify data connections being called on last action (form load or button click). 3. Disable data connections on form load and assign each data connection call to a button click event. 4. Test https://sharepointsd.wordpress.com/2015/12/02/an-error-occurred-submitting-this-form-to-the-web-server-the-form-will-now-be-closed/ buttons one by one to identify problem data connection. 5. If data connection is querying multiple fields from a large list try splitting it into multiple data connections. 6. Load only required data on demand. 7. In this case the filter set on data connection was returning all list items as the returned text column (simpleType) had an extra space in the end. normalize-space() fixed the issue. Leslie301 Guest Hi there- I'm having a problem similar to one mentioned on this board several months ago regarding a "Critical Error" message. Only one user (so far) is getting this error but he gets it 100% of the time. The message says "An error occurred http://www.office-forums.com/threads/critical-error-msg-from-infopath-when-submitting-form-to-sharepo.451556/ submitting this form to the Web server. The form will now be closed". That being said, the form still submits to SharePoint and generates the appropriate emails (as instructed by my rules). In the old post in this forum, the recommendation was http://support.themecatcher.net/quform-wordpress/troubleshooting/common-problems/an-error-occurred-submitting-the-form to turn off submitting error messages. That being said, I'm hesitant to turn off these error messages because what if something else happens later and the data really doesn't go through? The users of this form will not be able to an error check and see if their request went through properly, so it is key that they receive notice if something fails. Ideally I will figure out what is causing this message and then correct it. Any ideas? Let me know- THANK YOU! the formThis error message can be caused by a few different things, but almost always it means that there is a problem sending emails on your server. Either your server is not correctly configured to send emails or requires that emails are set up in a certain way to be sent properly. Please try each of the solutions below until it works.Solution #1 - set a "From" addressSome hosts will block emails that have a "From" address that is not associated with the hosting account (as a spam prevention measure). To fix this, go to Settings → Email → Notification email settings in the form builder and at "From" address set it to Static email address then enter an email address that is associated with the hosting account.Solution #2 - enter custom email contentNote: this only applies if you have ticked the option Customize email content in Settings → Email → Notification email settings.Make sure that you have entered something into the Email content box of the custom email, leaving this empty will cause an error.Solution #3 - use a SMTP server to send emailYou can configure Quform to send email via a SMTP server, therefore bypassing any restrictions of sending email via your web server. To do this, go to Quform → Settings → Email sending settings on the WordPress menu, at Email sending method choose SMTP. Enter the details of the SMTP server. You can use a free SMTP server such as Gmail - see this page for using Gmail with Quform.Debug the error messageTo find the exact cause of the problem, enable debug logging then submit the form again. The error message should be logged to the debug.log file.Still having trouble? Head over to the forums.
