This last time, I accepted as many defaults as possible (with the exception of the RAID configuration.) I get to the screen which says "Checking dependencies in packages selected for installation..." and the progress bar gets to maybe 10% when an error message pops up stating: "An error occurred unmounting the CD. Please make https://www.redhat.com/archives/anaconda-devel-list/2004-May/msg00039.html sure you're not accessing /mnt/source from the shell on tty2 and then click OK to retry."I'm installing from the DVD. What would cause the installation to attempt to unmount the "CD"?I can't get past this so my next option would be to download the CD iso's and attempt to install from those. Any suggestions for how to get past this error would be greatly appreciated.Thank you Top gpeangel Posts: 4 Joined: 2007/08/02 04:41:30 Re: CentOS 5, x86_64, Installation from http://www.centos.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=31444 DVD - SOLVED Quote Postby gpeangel » 2007/08/02 13:48:13 Apparently, the DVD drive was going into some sort of "sleep" mode which the install couldn't overcome. It takes a bit of time to set up RAID. So I opened a shell (Ctl-Alt-F1), cd'ed to /mnt/sources and every couple of minutes executed "ls -al" just to kick the drive. Doing this throughout the install was a pain, but I was able to complete the installation. Any other solutions to this error and ways to get around it. I have looked for a while and could not find the answer on different forums. I am using CDs and not DVDs but the error message is the same. happens right before the first package loads: "An error occurred unmounting the CD. Please make sure you're not accessing /mnt/source from the shell on tty2 then click OK to retry." On tty2 it displays: Switching from ISO[1] to [] for a2ps_4.13p-28.386 going to mount /tmp/hda on /mnt/source Exception was : an integer is required Any idea what is going on? I'm not playing with /mnt/source, not mounting it anywhere. Why is it referencing ISO's if I'm installing from a CD? Weird? Thanks, James James S. Perhaps you could look at that code and submit a patch? I had a look at the telnet option. As far as I could see the installation proceeds as normal after connection with telnet so it's not possible to do the complete installation in a telnet window. Can anybody explain this behaviour to me? Is it because the installation process shouldn't stop when the telnet connection breaks down? Who wrote the telnet option? (May I can contact him/her personally to ask some more detailled questions.) -- Felix Next Message by Date: Re: "An error occurred unmounting the CD..." It is trying to switch from CD1 to CD? to get a2ps_4.13p-28.386 [sic] (I assume that it was i386). Did you run genhdlist at the very end? Did you run pkgorder?
