info@contoso.com Both users are set as contributors and are able to create, delete and edit items in that DocLib. Now one of the two users sends an email to that stsadm.exe -o refreshdms DocLib and the question is: Will this email arrive and be stored in the DocLib? Short Answer: NO! Long Answer: The email arrives at the SharePoint Server with the sender-email-address info@contoso.com and due to the security settings SharePoint will look for the user because SharePoint uses the user’s name for “Created By” and also that user has to have the stsadm refreshdms right permissions to create new items in that DocLib. With the email address info@contoso.com SharePoint will find two users and that is not expected because to set the right user-info into “Created By” we need a unique email address. If such a Sender Email Address results not into a unique user we will have a security violation and should not store this email into the DocLib. Solution: You can set the E-Mail security to accept emails from everyone and the result for a non-unique email address will be that you can see “System Account” as the “Created By”. Troubleshooting: In ULS log you can find: MOSS2007: 01.01.2012 20:20:00.11 OWSTIMER.EXE (0x0512) 0x0A28 Windows SharePoint Services E-Mail 6873 Warning An error occurred while processing the incoming e-mail file C:\Inetpub\mailroot\Drop\xy37ll3331cd05e80006666.eml. I've configured Sharepoint to send mails by a SMTP Service installed in a mail server. It works https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/joerg_sinemus/2012/03/21/incoming-emails-into-doclib-does-not-work-when/ like a charm. The problem is about the incoming mail. I have to read a couple of POP3 mailboxes and add the downloaded mail to different libraries. To do this, I use a POP3 client who downloads mails from the POP3 mailboxes and it saves the mails in a folder https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/0363e8a8-f277-4915-ad0d-6c2182b2e419/incoming-mail-problem?forum=sharepointadminprevious as eml files. I've configured incoming mail in Sharepoint to use this folder as "e-mail drop folder". I've enabled mail at a document library and I've filled the email address. When I send an email to the library email address, the message is downloaded to the folder. After some seconds, the email dissapears, but it's not added to the library. An error appears in the Sharepoint Server event viewer: A critical error occurred while processing the incoming e-mail file \\servername\mails\test_mail_00f0a22e62e9f09f42cedfeaf0afcde17dd3f6ee4b21c9d78958c5441c9aba5e.eml. The error was: Bad senders or recipients.. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks, Raul Thursday, August 11, 2011 1:32 PM Reply | Quote Answers 0 Sign in to vote Hi, I've a solution. I explain all the process that I use because I think it could be very helpful for other people. I've a server (not a Sharepoint server) with the SMTP Service installed. In the same server I've

When I check the permissions on the library itself, it says I have contribute rights so I can view, add, update, and delete list items and documents. When I email an error occurred a document to the list, if I don't have 'Accept e-mail messages from any sender' selected, the email never gets into the list. When 'Accept e-mail messages based on document library permissions' is selected, the mail item appears in the Drop folder and then the timer service comes around and the item is removed, but never delivered into the list. I imagine Sharepoint is looking at something in the email and not seeing that my email account is the same as my AD account's email. But maybe that isn't the case. Is it described somewhere how Sharepoint determines who can email into a list beyond 'be in the security group'? How does it parse the message and then do the look up? EDIT Here's the message from the ULS viewer when document library permissions is on An error occurred while processing the incoming e-mail file c:\inetpub\mailroot\drop\ed79adfc01cf76a40000000c.eml. Or does the service that the timer runs under need some s
