An Error Occurred During Service Master Key Decryption (microsoft Sql Server, Error: 33094)
has setup.this was used to be the id to trigger SSIS package in sql agent. Somehow after this Dev server crashed and we restored from copy of https://mssqlwiki.com/tag/an-error-occurred-during-decryption-microsoft-sql-server/ production DB. then we kept getting logon failure when running SSIS via sql agent. When we tried to change password of this ssisid, we receieved below error: ------------------ An error occurred during decryption. (Microsoft SQL Server,Error: 15466) Alter failed for Credential if you know the cause, thanks in advance. -Gene Tuesday, August https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/44fa1fff-5fd9-46a5-8833-ed28998e7d85/an-error-occurred-during-decryption?forum=sqlsecurity 14, 2012 5:51 PM Reply | Quote Answers 0 Sign in to vote I think you have restore the system databse along with user database from Production to Dev & your production serveris havingService Master Key (SMK). When you are moving SQL Server to another computer, migrate the service master key by using backup and restore. Try to backup & restore the service master key from Production to DEV & try again. I suspect some kind of security change or some switch that was reset during the sp update. If I attach to the DB in ..\bin\debug and remove"UserInstance=true" from the connection string - it works. So it seems related to mounting a local user instance.Client exception:{"Failed to generate a user instance of SQL Server due to a failure in starting the process for the user instance.
