I am trying to access an ASP page on the same server using Server.CreateObject("MSXML2.ServerXMLHTTP"). On our previous 2003 server this worked correctly, however with the new 2008 server the operation just times out. Here is the code: strURL = "http://www.storeboard.com/profile/profile_view.asp?MemberID=" & MemberID & "&sid=" & cSession.SessionID Set oXMLHttp = Server.CreateObject("MSXML2.ServerXMLHTTP") oXMLHttp.open "GET", strURL, false oXMLHttp.send() IF oXMLHttp.status = 200 THEN strOut = oXMLHttp.responseText ELSE http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5559722/msxml3-dll-error-80072ee2-in-asp-page strOut = "Could not get XML data." END IF Set oXMLHttp = nothing The code is very simple but I get the following error: msxml3.dll error '80072ee2' The operation timed out /handle404.asp, line 291 Line 291 refers to oXMLHttp.Send() line. Is there an alternative code I can use? I use the script other places on the server that access files on other servers and they work correctly, but any access to files on our server doesn't work. Is there an alternative method that will allow me to keep the URL intact in the browser? The person could write the URL in their browser: http://www.example.com/hello the file doesn't exist but I have a 404 handler that then points the user to the correct path without changing the browser URL which is essential for our SEO ratings. asp-classic serverxmlhttp share|improve this question edited Feb 21 '14 at 16:23 Lankymart 7,18742252 asked Apr 5 '11 at 23:21 neojakey 70531629 add a comment| 3 Answers 3 active oldest votes up vote 9 down vote Microsoft has a published a KB article entitled INFO: Do Not Send ServerXMLHTTP or WinHTTP Requests to the Same Server If the ServerXMLHTTP or WinHTTP component must send a request to another ASP on the same server, the target ASP must be located in a different vir

It still works flawlessly behind the NAT table, but now I do atleast not get that it stops somewhere in the router / fw anymore... But I don't feel like telling what made it so.. lol, i was just an error occurred to change admin access port on router / fw from default 80 to 8080 and it works (almost anyhow) Well, any help is appriciated //Mrflashy //MrFlashy Reply With Quote 04-13-2004,03:32 PM #2 CardboardHammer View Profile View Forum Posts Mercenary Join Date Nov 2003 Posts 655 Showing the code around the line at which the error occurs might help. My guess is that it is a failed RPC call... EDIT: Are you trying to access an XML related file on a different server? Code: ResizeComUrl = "http://" & Request.ServerVariables("SERVER_NAME") & Request.ServerVariables("PATH_INFO") This was the original code for the file that gave me the error, but I did a search on the forum for the photoalbum I'm using (which is far from easy. neat etc.. the support they have is, well non exsiting.. but i found one advice..) To change the before mentioned part of code to : Code: ResizeComUrl = "http://192.168.1.35/" &_ Request.ServerVariables("PATH_INFO") First try gave me a nogo from inside the lan, then a quick fix, had forgotten the _ and it worked from behind the lan, still from the outside, the error is still : msxml3.dll error '80072efd' A connection with the server could not be established /photoalbum/ScriptLibrary/incResizeAddOn.asp, line 362 However, if I check
