I was pdf optimizer an internal error occurred running Acrobat 9.0.0 for Mac. I was working with a PDF newsletter with lots of transparency generated from Microsoft Word for Mac.I could get rid of the error by selecting "Transparency" in the PDF optimizer. Unfortunately for me "optimizing" transparency created stitching artifacts (thin white lines in areas where transparencies had been flattened). I finally had to resort to optimizing the PDF using Acrobat 6 for Windows, which worked fine. One way to reduce the size of a PDF is to use the File | Save As | Reduced Size PDF option in the full, non-free version of Adobe Acrobat. If you get an error: An error was encountered while processing images, then try using the preflight tool to reduce transparency. In the full version of Adobe Acrobat, select Edit | Preflight In the Preflight window, under PDF Fixups, select "Flatten Transparency". Select any resolution, selecting low is fine Click on "Analyze and fix" Close the preflight window. There properly is no security set and all editing, etc. shows up as "allowed" in the document profile. Any idea why these PDFs would not allow these an error basic editing features after generation? I have tried resaving them and it doesn't change. an error was So I just tried to Save As Other -> Reduced Size PDF and Save As Other -> Optimized PDF. These generate "An Error was encountered while optimizing content streams " Which I believe points to a font or image problem. This then lead me to notice that the pdf reports no embedded fonts in the optimize dialog, but does list some subset fonts in properties. Is there a way to set the service to embed the complete font instead of subsets? I will also look into generating these without custom fonts and/or SVG images to narrow the problem and post the results here. Thanks again for the great service! Well, there may be a variety of reasons why is Acrobat unable to edit the file and it is really hard to determine which one it is. Regarding the fonts, it is not possible to set the service to embed the complete fonts. It always embeds subsets.
