I want to use it on a macBook Pro (as they advertise on their website) and later on some mac pros workstations. But when I start Media Composer 5.5.3 (latest version) on my brand new macBook pro with osx tiger, I get a "bus error" in thread "MainThread" at address 0x0. Then the application crashes. I tried to contact avid support, but they said I first had to pay more than 200 Euro for a support plan before they answer my question. I am not willing to pay such a price if they don't even manage to get their software to run initially.
Anyone has similar experiences? Solutions?
Thanks for any advise. #2 tfg View Profile View Forum Posts Private Message View Articles Senior Member Join Date Apr 2008 Posts 226 10-03-201105:14 AM I run Avid on my new macbook pro (Lion 10.7.1) and my Workstation (SL 10.6.8) and it seems to run pretty well on both. I've seen the error you speak about, but am not sure exactly what causes it. It hasn't happened to me in a long time. I know one constant error is the file permissions, but seems to be different. You can just as easily register on the avid forums -- plenty of people there to help you out. I frequent those forums all the time. It's better than a support plan sometimes. Usually it's a permissions issue. Start by using Apple Disk Utility ...and Repair Permissions on the start up drive. this should be done on a regular basis. Also, there was a version a while back ... that you had to reinstall the software as a root user... not sure
