Is this the stock ssh client that comes with OS X, or have you installed a different one via something like Fink or MacPorts? You could run some debugging from ssh to see where things are hanging up. From your client, you could use the -v option which will give your some debugging information and may tell you who is hanging up. If that doesn't tell you anything, you can do some similar things on the remote side to the sshd daemon that is accepting your connection. However, I'm still concerned about the bus error. Can you paste your connection attempt here, showing that error? It will run if I "sudo ssh-keygen", but then all of my ssh commands require me to sudo to get them to run. Any ideas? #1 vbdjames, Aug 18, 2008 nixgeek uix_expand bus error linux uix_collapse Mac of the SubGenius! :-) Joined: Jan 2, 2004 Messages: 8,621 Likes Received: 6 That is strange. Are you doing it from within your home path when in the Terminal? #2 nixgeek, Aug 19, 2008 vbdjames uix_expand uix_collapse Registered Joined: Aug 18, 2008 Messages: 4 Likes Received: 0 Yes - here's a cut/paste: Code: imac:~ djames$ pwd /Users/djames imac:~ djames$ ssh-keygen Bus error imac:~ djames$ sudo ssh-keygen Password: Generating public/private rsa key pair. Enter file in which to save the key (/var/root/.ssh/id_rsa): And regardless if I accept that file location or direct it to ~/.ssh/id_rsa, it creates a key I cannot use without sudo (and that has root as the username). I do not have this problem on my macbook, which is at same OS version/build. #3 vbdjames, Aug 19, 2008 vbdjames uix_expand uix_collapse Registered Joined: Aug 18, 2008 Messages: 4 Likes Received: 0 Finally hit on the right combination to Google an answer! This is a problem caused by an older version of a component (Instant HiJack) of Audio HiJack.
